Betway group - Refusing to discuss complaints

Post by thePOGG »

Just closed a complaint against Betway casino over a high four figure fund confiscation. Betway refused to engage in any way shape or form in the discussion of the complaint (and by inference any future complaints) stating that they won't discuss any player details with a 3rd party. This is highly disappointing behavior from a group that has held Accredited status at CasinoMeister for many year and runs entirely contrary to that status. As such, this group will be listed as 'Not Recommended' in their upcoming reviews.

I've been around the block Betway has never treated me wrong I had a win with them and touched on the issue of maximum bet ironically ..it depends how much wagering has been made whilst in breach of the max bet ..and the circumstances at the time when I had my issue I was up front and told them about it and they let it slide ..but it all depends how much wagering was done whilst over that bet.

Rule of thumb is to Read all the T&C's prior to going in for some gaming basically knowing ones foe or as Sun Tzu put "Know thy Enemy" is a key step : you must be prepared before wagering , knowing the bonus conditions (Is it a cashable Bonus , Is there a maximum cash-out , What is the Maximum bet (if any) , what games can be played and cant be played , the wagering requirements , are there any bonus exclusions because of country , and if in doubt live support or email to figure it out) .

Also sorry to hear about the 9k sounds heavy .

I know the Betway group have a lot of players that are perfectly happy with the service they receive. The problem arises when they shut down the lines of communication when there is an unhappy player. I want to know that if I recommend a casino to a player that they are going to get a fair chance and that if they win and abide by the rules they are going to get paid. Where a casino chooses not to engage, I can't vouch for that and I'm not going to risk my reputation on them.

Even in the comparitively small number of complaints I've handled I've come across numerous occasions where casinos have made bad decisions that have ultimately been overturned, but which wouldn't have been had I not stepped in for the player. This is understandable - as operation size increases efficiency often decreases. It's the nature of any big business. When this site grows, I'll take on other people to do some of the work I do. While I'll do my level best to explain to the new team members what I need done, there will undoubtedly be some mis-communications that will lead to a few balls getting dropped. Likewise, one department looks at a players account and sees one thing (whatever their priority focus is) while a different department sees something completely different. What I'm dragging out saying here is that while a casino may not have any malicious intent, it doesn't mean that they'll always get it right when it comes to fund confiscation. An external perspective is invaluable and those casinos that close that door won't find much welcome with this site (though I'm happy to talk to anyone who's considering a change of policy!).

I see this is an old post , but hi guys just joined up today after reading about mentioned site

And i would like to say a few things

First off it was Cheltenham festival i decided to look for more sites with welcome bonuses etc for the festival coming up so i found these guys who offered a £50 match bet
i signed up and all went well i managed to get the £50 free bet after putting £50 on a horse.
Firs thoughts on the site were wow look at those prices they do give pretty good prices i thought but really they were just giving the actual price the horse would open anyway (the big 3 dont do this).

So i bet all week with them flicking back from horse racing to slots won a decent amount so decided to cash in i had already made up my mind that the site wasn't all that it was made up to be (Except them giving an accurate price early on)

All there email were going into my junk folder so didnt realise that i had to send them ID in which i have thus far i have to say that there tactics are bad they are trying to keep things going as long as possible so i reverse the funds like i have done on the Cheltenham week im going to see if i get my withdraw and then talk to them via live chat bring up some concerns i have with them and the site IE some live chat staff are great some have not got a clue etc..But very interesting to see what people have lost on various sites i never new sites like this were around !

I really cant put into words how this site runs really all i can say is follow what thePOGG says about them..It does seem some staff have no clue of what your on about but some are great my first withdraw is ruffly going to take 14 days from the day i asked for the money they have said there going to try and sort the 48 hour holding time but they have also said a few things like "were new so just trying to sort things" i thought the site was brand new but from what ive read from here its not ..I think there brand new means from the day they sponsored a well known darts player, would i use them again..Yes but probs not to deposit only to check prices on horse racing as there mark up is pretty honest to what other big bookmakers do , for instance i checked a price with one of the big 3 , and a horse was 11/8 fav i checked with betway and it was 5/2 i thought weird ..And it did open at 5/2 across the board ..I did however question there pricing and asked do yous price the same as the "sp" will be and there answer was NO they price themselves..I always thought that when a horse finished a race that there was a shop price and everyone stuck to the shop price..Thats maybe something thePogg could answer ..Can all company's finishing prices be different say a horse wins and it comes up on the tv it was 11/8 could a site your using have there finishing price at 1/1..One thing is for sure this site has opened my eyes to the things casinos/betting sites get up to i couldn't bealive half the story's i read..And hats of to thePOGG for his hard work

Hey xalksx,

Apologies for the delayed response - I was caught away from my computer yesterday!

As far as I'm aware - and I certainly wouldn't claim to be any form of expert when it comes to the sportsbetting side of the business - every book will have their own odds teams, so yes you'll get different prices at different books. This is what allows arbing to happen - Where the lines at two different books are far enough off that by betting one outcome at one book and the opposite outcome at the other book you lock in a guaranteed profit. Of course certain books will share their odds teams - for example Betway will share their odds teams between all of the sportsbooks they run meaning that regardless of which of their properties you're playing with you'll find the odds the same.

As far as Betway go, I find them a very frustrating group. I get emails from them every few months asking to get traffic from the site, but as long as they hold to their 'won't discuss player complaints' line, there's absolutely nothing I can do for them and worse, there's nothing that I can do for players that are experiencing difficulties.

Hi thePOGG

Yea understand what your saying for example most punters had in there head that one race was out of big bucks and annie power i checked ladbrokes and they both were 7/4 joint favs so i checks betway and there 5/2 bigbucks 2/1 for annie power if it did turn out a 2 horse race then i could have won big(if i had bet really big)

This is the problem with them they are a frustrating site like you say now they have said they have paid me etc but it took a while well i dont no as of yet will find out when it lands in the bank it seems with them that say you won big there is a high chance of them seriously finding a way out of paying it after doing some research and finding your site i found myself saying right i need to get out of here ASAP i didnt trust them i could have won more with them but thought if i go and win 3/4 grand i would be shxxing myself to if they would pay or not pay as ive said i cant put into words how they run it seems they need someone maybe like yourself to go in and say right STOP this is where your going wrong customers dont like this. Now i asked them about best odds guaranteed one live chat person had no clue what i ment the other did and said its something we shall be doing in the future and thats what i kept getting allot of it seems there gathering information that they should already no ..Maybe if one of there players mention if they got involved with sites like this they would be better of for a start it take them of the blacklist but as you say its frustrating with them theres allot of potential with the site but they need to take some steps to get where they should be

Just to add a little to this as i had said the email stating that i had to send docs in went into junk but they did wait 3 ish days to send this email (giving me more time to reverse funds) i am bad for reversing but i dug my heels in after being told 3-7 days it went in after 2 days ..So as ive spoke to thePOGG about this site it just seems that if they would interact with 3rd party meditation and take a few pointers etc they could be a good site ..But until this has been sorted then i cannot see me betting with them

I like to think that's what I try to do, but you have to understand that while most casinos consider the affiliate sector a valuable source of traffic, it's not particularly well thought of by either casinos or players. For far too long far to large a section of the affiliate market has behave irresponsibly, not only simply advertising whoever was prepared to pay them the most but those affiliates that have tried to mediate complaints have in many cases gone on to share details publicly that shouldn't have been shared. When player fraud is at question, casino's become very wary of giving away too much information as to how they catch fraudsters. In the majority of cases I don't think it's warranted, but there are some things I've seen that I don't think are either common sense or well known and would pose a threat if published. Alongside this they have the Data Protection Act to worry about, and if personal information ends up published the casino are going to bear responsibility for that. The short of it is that there are many good reasons not to talk about complaints, but for me a more important reason to discuss them; as the casinos benefit financially in these situations it's very easy to level accusations of self-interest at the decision and mistakes do happen where innocent players get wrongly accused. When an independent party reviews these situations other players are offered some piece of mind even if the player in question is never paid.

I would also quickly point out that the Betway group aren't 'Blacklisted' they're simply 'Not Recommended' due to their current policies towards the discussion of player complaints. I save Blacklisting for those really rogue opperations that have been caught out offering non-random software or have been shown to be involved in some other form of unethical business practice.
