Dealing with Aff Utd

Postby slotsguide » Wed Jun 22, 2016 1:15 pm

Hi ThePOGG,

I am just wondering really how you would deal with Affiliates United?

I think we all know about their reputation so I don't really need to go into anything like clicks and sign ups not being registered.

However we are on a CPA deal with them, minimum cumulative deposits $30 CPA $200

Finally a registration showed up in the system and said they deposited in May. They also deposited in June.

Now obviously the stats are missing lots of key data as we would expect from CPays/AfUtd. Completely unreliable. But at the current exchange rate the player would have had to have made only 2 single deposits of £10 to fall under the CPA trigger point.

Todays exchange rate:

10.00 GBP = 14.7076 USD

That is a hell of a lot of activity for two deposits of a tenner!

To cut a long story short, is there any point in going to the UKGC or Gibraltar as I live outside the UK?

What would you do? Quite frankly I like so many other affiliates am tempted to just say sod it, live and learn. The money is not the issue here though, it is the principle. And if they have shafted us on this one example and I have had test registrations from outside my country not show up in the stats before... so just how much have they not logged from us over the last 18 months?

What is your advice ThePOGG?

Thanks Matt

Follow what other top rated affiliates do, if they are not working with their brands then there is a reason for it. If they truly like the value of your traffic then ask for a prepaid deal on top of CPA. You have more than enough brands to work with so not like you need to be desperate to send players to them, send to another brand that you don't have to question the results.

Hey Matt,

How I'd deal with this would depend on the specifics of the situation.

If I was ThePOGG and this had happened to us - I'd think to myself "AffUnited don't respond to player complaints, why were they getting exposure on ThePOGG.com?" and end the relationship.

If I was another affiliate I'd likely just punt the brand and find another brand that I could trust to work with based on poor performance.

If another affiliate submitted a complaint at POGGWebmasters I'd ask for a load of downloaded data from the affiliate, I'd then go to the operator and ask for the deposit/play history on the player's account and look to compare to ensure they tied up. However I'd be expecting AffUnited to refuse to discuss the complaint as they do with player complaints and as such I'd not expect a positive outcome. At best the figures suggest something. What they don't do is prove it. As such we end in a situation where the report gets a negative ruling for the operator as they've refused to cooperate and the final report states that the provided stats show unlikely but not impossible player activity, to both generate that amount of turn over and remain below the CPA pay cap.

If I'm entirely honest, I'm not sure of the value of the exercise. However I'm happy to look at it if that's what you'd prefer. If that's the case, please, no further discussion on the forums and submit your complaint.

No matter what we'd do as affiliates trust is ALWAYS going to play a big part in any relationship. Simply put, we never have enough information to actually confirm that what an operator is showing us is actually true. If you don't trust the operator you're working with, or more specifically have active reason to doubt, it's time to find someone new to work with!

Thanks TP,

I am not worried about the small income that we are missing here, and there's plenty of chains to promote. The main issue is [EDITED]the worrying stats that affiliates are seeing[EDITED]? Where is the protection? Who is standing up for us all? The gambling regulators sound like they don't give a rats ass as well.

The truth is that the gambling regulators don't care. Unlike players who are customers and as such afforded some protection, affiliates are private businesses. Where a company has a dispute with another company, generally it's not the job of a regulator to resolve the issue, it's the job of the courts. The regulators could take action against an operator based on the clauses in the license related to their reputable behaviour/not engaging in illegal practices, but likely would only do that after a court ruling showing that there HAD been any illegal activity. In other words an affiliate would have to take an operator to court and prove fraud before the regulator would be in a position to take action.

I've made an edit to your post as it made a statement of fact that the evidence presented so far cannot validate as fact.

gambling regulators wouldn't know where to start to protect affiliates, it's not on their radar or something they would comprehend much. If willhill like your players, then ask for flat rate fee so you are getting something guaranteed. If they can't or won't offer that then give them less exposure

I don't like their attitude and their conditions. I got the impression they will "rip" you anyway. Isn't it with cutting commission, than with low conversion or other things. I got now a mail from them titled "new name, new program". Right, New Name, New Program, but same crap as always.

All you can do is just change them for other programs in my opinion. Aff Utd is not a trustable partner for the long term. Because of the Joyland-case I have all their brands blacklisted.

Affiliates United was recently named back to William Hill as an attempt to change their public image. The program is still operated by the same people in Tel Aviv but nothing but the name has changed. This company refuses payments at their will and earned their reputation for a reason.

They are still benefiting from the great reputation bookmaker William Hill used to have, but from an affiliate point of view this company should be entirely avoided.
