Aramon’s 2014/15 NFL Picks: Week 17

Posted by THEPOGG in Blog.

Ok here we stand in the last week of the regular season in the negative with our total bankroll. For the first time in almost 3 full seasons we find ourselves here in the negative as far as total bankroll. Well for those willing to see this out to the end of the season, the glimmer of hope we have here is that I have yet to have a losing post season as that seems to be where I have been historically strongest the past few years. So this week we are upping the bets to their usual strength of wager and looking to make what I hope to be a historical comeback through the playoffs! Only 2 plays today as the last week of the season tends to be almost preseason like with teams either out of it or just cruising and resting for he playoffs. But there is always something to feed on and I believe we have it.

With nothing to play for today as both teams are out of playoff contention, look for defense to take a back seat to these strong offensive division rivals. The Giants have been on a roll with a 3 game win streak which has seen their offense come alive. Rookie WR Odell Beckham has been absolutely amazing with 1120 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns in just 11 games. Giant QB Eli Manning has looked revitalized targeting his unstoppable young phenom receiver as well as the running game has picked up due to the increased and potent passing threat. The Eagles have always had the ability to go up and down the field at will very quickly with the fastest paced offense in the NFL. If not for the untimely turnovers of QB Mark Sanchez this Eagle team would be heading to the playoffs. Even with the turnovers however, Sanchez has proved very capable of leading this Philly offense and has had little problem scoring points. As I said, in a final game that has no playoff bearing, usually the defenses of both teams will be the main part of the game that should fall off. But in all honesty, even if both defensive squads played to full capacity, I would find it still a great bet to the over in this game. This should be a no brainer before the 4th quarter.

Indianapolis Colts -7.5 over Tennessee Titans : Bet 3 units

In what is another meaningless game it looks as if their is at least some betting value. The Colts no matter what they do here cannot improve on their playoff seeding nor hurt it, and the Titans are just flat out horrible and have been done for 2 months. What I like here is the Colts really needing to gather some momentum and regain that offensive swagger going into the playoffs. They were embarrassed a week ago against Dallas and need to get back on track heading into the one and done playoff picture. And what a team to get well on. The Tennessee Titans have been absolutely abysmal losing 9 in a row and not even being able to score more than 10 points in each of their last 3 games. If Colts QB Andrew Luck were to play deep into this game I would expect a laugher of a blowout of maybe 4 TD’sor so, but when the game becomes out of hand in favor of the Colts it is more than likely you will see Andrew Luck pulled to rest and avoid injury for the playoffs. This is actually okay as far as I am concerned. The Colts backup QB Matt Hasselback is a seasoned veteran and could actually be a starter and many NFL teams. He came in last week during garbage time vs. Dallas and played very well, a sign that he is ready to play when called upon. Against quite possibly the worst team in the league in the Titans, I don’t think it much matters who is behind center for the Colts today. While the Colts do not technically need this game for the playoffs, they need this game to get well for the playoffs. No team likes to stumble into the post season with doubts about themselves. The Titan should offer little resistance to the Colts finding their groove today.
