Aramon’s 2014/15 NFL Picks: Week 6 (Sunday)

Posted by THEPOGG in Blog.

NFL

Looking for a nice bounce back week from a very disappointing week 5 to say the least. Going 0-3 on last Sundays games has saw us drop into the negative a bit for the season….but no worries. Aside from 1 wager last week, all our games were right where they should have been right up until the end. A Bears collapse and a Saints team tat also squandered a big lead saw us take it on the chin pretty good. Well that happens just like we will get some lucky breaks along the way as well. All we need to do is find value and keep plugging along and we will always be on the side of prospective profit, like today. We have 4 solid plays that if go as predicted will wash away the sour taste of last week. Great slate of games this week, so enjoy and cash in!

New York Giants +2.5 over Philadelphia Eagles : Bet 6 units

Result: New York Giants 0 : 27 Philadelphia Eagles

This is a fun game betwn 2 division rivals that genuinely don’t like each other. The Eagles trash talk was monumental leading up to this week, and while I don’t believe the Giants needed any extra motivation for this game, this red hot Giants team marches into Philly fired up. The Giants have been spectacular on their 3 game winning streak which has turned this season completely around. They come into Philly averaging 35 points per game during that streak. The Eagles have averaged 32 point per game this season, but its slightly deceiving due to the fact if you deduct defensive and special team points, which are not a product of predictability, the Eagles offense has averaged just 21 points per game. In a Chip Kelly fast paced high scoring offense, that spells big trouble for Philadelphia. Eagle QB Nick Foles who was spectacular last season is sputtering and struggling to find that same groove. Consequently the Giants who looked lost in their new offensive scheme to start the season, seems to have finally gotten it clicking on all cylinders. Giants QB Eli Manning is turning this into his best season to date under this new scheme with 11 TD’s already and passing at a career high 66% completion rate. With highly touted rookie WR Odell Beckham finally playing, the Giants are loaded with just too many weapons for the Eagles to contend with. I look for some scoring here but the Giants should win this one outright.

Cincinnati Bengals -7 over Carolina Panthers : Bet 4 unit

Result: Cincinnati 37 : 37 Carolina Panthers

It is hard to bet against the Bengals dominance at home. Since 2013 they are 10-0 straight up, as well as against the spread. While Carolina comes in with a very spirited comeback win against Chicago last week, the Panthers have suffered mightily against the AFC North teams this year going 0-2 and getting outscored 75-29 in the games aginst the Steelers and Ravens. This AFC North team is very similar to the ones that trounced the Panthers already. And while the Bengals running attack has not been exactly potent this year, it may not matter going up a Panther defense that has been giving up a whopping 5.4 yards per carry this season. With the Panthers being just 1-4 against the spread on the road in their last 5 games, and their injury riddled run game producing just 3.1 yards per carry, I don’t think Carolina has the firepower to come into Cincinnati and compete closely with them at home. If the Bengals playing at home jump up to a big lead against Carolina in the first half like the Bears did last week, don’t look for another big comeback by the Panthers. Bengals cruise here.

Washington Redskins +3.5 over Arizona Cardinals : Bet 5 units

Result: Washington Redskins 20 : 30 Arizona Cardinals

This is a good spot for Washington this week. Good because they are lucky to catch a team in the Cardinals that when completely healthy are better than the Reskins. The fact of the matter that in a quarterback driven league, the Cardinals are really without one. Starter Carson Palmer has been out, last week 2nd string QB Drew Stanton was knocked out of the game with a concussion, and wasn’t terribly effective anyway. So that just may leave 3rd stringer rookie Logan Thomas to hold down the fort at QB. He looked pretty over matched coming in last week completing only 1 of 8 passes, although one was for a long TD, but that was more due to the run after the catch than it was the pass. The Cardinal defense which has been so impressive has been ravaged by injuries now as well. Last week the Cardinals usually stout defense gave up an astounding 568 yards while losing Defensive End Calais Campbell and Linebacker Matt Shaughnessy to injury. This is the perfect time for a dangerous but struggling Washington offense to catch Arizona. Redskins RB Alfred Morris has struggled of late, but should really press this injured front seven of the Cardinals. I expect a big game from him. As well as QB Kirk Cousins really needs a big game to bounce back from his disappointing play so far. I believe this is a get well game for Cousins as well as all of Washington at the expense of a very depleted Arizona Cardinal team.

New England Patriots/Buffalo Bills take the over total 44.5 : Bet 5 units

Result: New England Patriots 37 : 22 Buffalo Bills

The over total in the matchup between these two division rivals has been 5-1 in their las 6 meetings. Today’s total is the lowest of the previous six. I think the demise of the Patriot offense and Tom Brady has been greatly exaggerated, and Buffalo now starting QB Kyle Orton has vastly improved the offense over the poor decision making QB play of E.J. Manuel. Last weeks 43-17 destruction of the previously unbeaten Bengals by the Patriots was a wake up call to all those watching that the Patriots when challenged still have the firepower to answer the bell. Patriot QB Tom Brady is still adjusting to some new targets but each week that passes my confidence grows he will find that groove helped along with excellently laid out game plans by coach Bill Belichick. Buffalo on the other hand, finds themselves in a tie with the Pats for first place in the division and should put up a nice effort today. As stated before Kyle Orton is the better choice to lead this offense an he proved it last week by throwing over 300 yards. Orton’s veteran leadership should prove big, as well as a weak patriot run defense that has been giving up almost 120 yards a game. While the Bills are an improved team, I really like the Patriots once again to silence the naysayers with an explosion of offense today. But as history has proven between these division rivals, the Bills will put up their points too. Over all the way…
