Aramon’s 2015 NFL Super Bowl Pick

Posted by THEPOGG in Blog.

NFL

Well it’s finally here! The 2015 Super Bowl, the grand finale of the NFL season that will be watched by more people around the world than any single game sporting event. It also brings to a close a very dismal betting season for us. We just never found that groove or had that big week and it just never went our way. Well we are fully aware of that so its no need for doom and gloom on this glorious Super Bowl Sunday. We have the gift of actually getting the number 1 seeded team for each conference facing off today, so this is the best we could hope for for the big game! I will offer up my pick on it, as I think it’s worth it, but this is like a holiday so sit back and enjoy what the whole season has been building up to!

What a match up for the Super Bowl, the best team from the NFC vs. the best team from the AFC. Although theoretically that is how it’s always supposed to be, lots of time a lower seeded playoff team gets there just because they got hot or lucky. This year, its just the best going against the best. The Patriots led by Tom Brady and his potent offense, going against last years champs, the Seahawks and that ferocious defense. Some might say that the Seahawks got lucky in their last game against the Packers winning in overtime in a game they looked awful in for 3 1/2 quarters. Meanwhile the Patriots just steamrolled through the Colts to earn their rightful spot in the big game. Well I say that is just perfect from a betting standpoint. What I mean is, if you really dissect that Seattle game against the Packers, they were actually pretty damn good, at least their defense was. Seattle QB Russell Wilson had an incredibly uncommon bad game in which he threw 4 interceptions in the 1st half! Any other team and they get buried and lose big doing that. However Seattle’s defense kept them in the game having to battle through turnovers and protecting bad field position. When Wilson got right the Packers could not stop the Seahawks as they came roaring back, also led by the beast mode running of Marshawn Lynch. The Patriots on the other hand had to deal with far softer competition to find their way to the Super Bowl. The Colts are a decent team with a great QB in Andrew Luck, but he is asked to do too much and the Patriots were able to exploit a very unbalanced Colt team. Both teams here are the epitome of balance, but even with an improved Patriot defense, it is nothing compared to the Seahawks “Legion Of Boom”. And while Tom Brady with a win today could cement his legacy as possibly being the best QB ever, his counter part Russell Wilson while being young, has been here before and won and has played in meaningful games at the end of every season he has been in the NFL. The Patriots have very good pass coverage but will have no answer to shut out the running of the beast Marshawn Lynch. This will open up the offense for Russell Wilson to operate effectively. Watch for Wilson himself to get outside of the pocket and make big plays either with his arm or his feet. The Seahawks proved last year the best defense is the far better weapon to have than the best offense as they drubbed the Peyton Manning led Broncos. I don’t suspect that will happen this year as the Patriots do I believe bring more balance to the table, but even in this pass happy league where stats have become inflated and regular season games are won by huge passing numbers, the playoffs and especially the Super Bowl and largely won by great defense and effective running. The checks in those categories go to Seattle, who I believe will be your 2015 Super Bowl winner. Back to back champs!
