Aramon’s 2015/16 NFL Picks: Week 17 (Sunday)

Posted by THEPOGG in Blog.

NFL

As we head into the last week of the regular season we must look back and be pleased with how its gone so far. As of now we are up over 18 units and have really had an overall strong season. Meaning, there was never a need for any big comebacks from large deficits, we have maintained a slow and steady trend upwards for the majority of the season. As hoped we finished strong and look to wager in the upcoming playoff weeks with a very fat and healthy bankroll. This week doesn’t see a ton of action as many teams are either in the playoffs and may rest starters, or have nothing to play for and its largely unpredictable how they will as a team approach the lat game of the regular season. A lot of what we will see today will resemble the pre season uncertainty of non starters playing in games that do not want to see injuries occur right before the playoffs. However there are still some games that are super important and in them we find some value. So enjoy the last week of the regular season as we really look to secure our best wagering season to date!

New York Jets -3 over Buffalo Bills : Bet 4 units

This game couldn’t have been scripted any better. Jets former coach Rex Ryan gets a chance to beat his former team the New York Jets to keep them out of the playoffs. For Rex’s Bills who will not be going to the playoffs, this is their Super Bowl. Ryan has proven already this season he has a personal issue with the Jets by picking up a second string linebacker the Jets cut from their team after he got into a fight and broke the jaw of their then starting QB Geno Smith. And then had the nerve to make this player an honorary captain in the first game with the Jets so he could be out on the field for the opening coin toss. It was this type of bravado no longer backed up with winning that cost Rex his job in New York. But, I don’t think it amounts to a hill of beans going against the Jets today. New York controls their own playoff chances today by getting a win. And I’m sure that’s enough motivation for a Jets team that is peaking at the right time. I’m sure it would be great for the Jets to beat Rex, but it wouldn’t matter who was in front of them today, they are playing great and would be a tough out for any team, let alone a sub par squad like the Buffalo Bills. The Bills have had some moments this season wher they have played well, but as a whole their season of supposed promise has been a disappointment. A top rated defense last season has surprisingly slipped dramatically under Ryan who’s forte was supposed to be defense. On the other side, the Jets of the dismal offense of a year ago, is incredibly dynamic and well balanced and today should prove too much for the Bills to keep up with. I also expect the Jets defense to absolutely punish a Bills offense hampered by their top RB LeSean Mccoy being out, and their top WR Sammy Watkins getting shut down by Jets superstar cornerback Darrelle Revis. This is the NFL not a soap opera, that should spell a convincing defeat of the Bills by the better team today, with all the emotions of the off field nonsense playing little to no role.

Pittsburgh Steelers/Cleveland Browns take the over total of 46.5 : Bet 3 units

Result:

The Steelers blew the chance of controlling their own playoff destiny by losing last week in an upset to division rival Baltimore. A game nobody saw them losing they laid an egg and really looked nothing like the team that had been an absolute offensive juggernaut the last 6 weeks. Well they need to win today to even have a chance at a possible playoff berth, and to do that I predict they will get back to scoring a ton of points and Cleveland is a perfect team to do it to. I can in no scenario think of anyway the Browns will be able to contain the Steelers Ben Roethlisberger led offense. Pittsburgh will easily hang 30 + on a very porous Browns defense. But I would not be the least bit surprised if the Browns score a good few points of their own led by their brash young QB Johnny Manziel. Not that he is that great, but he has showed toughness in leading this struggling Browns team, and he really is playing for a spot next year as his off field antics have outweighed his on field performance for the most part. I do think even though the Steelers are clearly the superior team, the division rival Browns will play them hard enough to score enough points to add to Pittburgh’s big number to send this game over the total. Even with a win the Steelers are not guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, but they have to win today to it even be a consideration. I expect them to light it up today, and the Browns to pitch in enough.
