BetBlocker – the Scottish registered Responsible Gambling charity – is very happy to report that they have received their first corporate donation made by a business within the remote gambling sector. Casino review service, CasinoGuide.co.uk have set a high bar with a significant donation to help the BetBlocker project continue to grow and improve.
Manager and Trustee of the charity Duncan Garvie had the following remarks about CasinoGuide.co.uk’s contribution:

“ThePOGG.com has invested years of work and significant financial resources in getting the BetBlocker project off of the ground. It has been a tough road to get the project established. It is really encouraging to see other organisations within the industry get behind the project and support its continued development.
When we broke BetBlocker away from ThePOGG to establish it as a charitable entity in its own right we anticipated some UK licensed operators offering donations to the project as there are provisions within the UK license that require license holders to support Responsible Gambling focused charities. That our first corporate donation comes not from an operator but from an affiliate, with no obligation to make such a donation, is a fantastic gesture exemplifying that there are good people working in this industry. People who understand that protecting vulnerable players is a responsibility for all of us and not something that should rely on regulatory edict.
CasinoGuide have made a clear statement of intent with this donation and established themselves as the gold standard of the affiliate industry.”
With their donation CasinoGuide.co.uk now qualify to display the BetBlocker Gold tier Donation Seal. The seal will be matched to a verification page on the BetBlocker website so all parties can quickly and easily confirm whether the seal being displayed is valid.
Alex Tester, Project Manager of CasinoGuide had the following to say about their donation:
“At CasinoGuide, we believe that the service we provide carries an inherent responsibility to promote responsible gambling behaviour. We are therefore delighted to be the first corporate donor for BetBlocker, thereby assisting in the further development of an extremely valuable tool available across several platforms free of charge.”
This donation is going to be invested in improving the iOS version of the BetBlocker app to strengthen the restriction, making it tougher for users to bypass. Due to the restrictions that Apple place on app developers – restrictions that are not present on the Android platform – it has presented a significantly greater challenge to offer as robust a restriction for iPhone users. This is something that the BetBlocker team are constantly working on to find new strategies to improve the restriction we offer. There are multiple new features currently queued and waiting for funding to implement.
