Declined - The UKGC have not given clear guidance regarding how operator mergers are to be managed with respect to self exclusions. The regulator needs to review this case.
Read our Betfair Casino Review.
Life self exclusion from paddypower/ also self excluded from betfair previously.... yet Still let me bet.... even made me a VIP.
Self excluded from games/casino.... let me play roulette etc through bingo site.
Well as I understand it.... the casino must have systems in place to identify problem gamblers.
I self excluded from various providers a number of years ago... betfair included;not sure for how long(paddypower for life). Over the past couple of years I returned to betfair and have gambled 1000s(unaware that betfair was now sister brand of paddypower).
I also tried self excluding from casino/games section of betfair (as that is my biggest problem).... however a loophole appears to be that I could play roulette/slots etc through the bingo section(surely that’s a neglection of duty to protect vulnerable players?).
Anyway my point is that if they are supposed to have systems in place to identify and protect problem gamblers..... surely those systems should include checking self exclusion on sister brands/checking previous self exclusions, checking gambling habits etc.... not waiting til gambling increases and make them a VIP.
Anyway I’m sure you won’t be able to help, I just think everyone including the regulators etc are turning a blind eye to what’s going on.
Hi desger123,
Unfortunately this issue is likely to tie into the Paddy Power/Betfair merger. That being the case all we can do is recommend you contact the UKGC as they have not given clear guidelines on how company mergers are to be managed so they are the only body qualified to make a decision on this issue.
As to self-excluding from specific products - this is something that the UKGC actively encourage operators to engage with to ensure players have the most flexible system. It would be necessary for you to determine which products you need to exclude from however.
Thanks,
