The Goblin's Cave slots game can be found at Playtech casinos. Playtech do not publish the house edge of their games, however several established Playtech casinos have started releasing this information and on the CasinoMeister forum, the Boyle Casino Manager confirmed that Playtech slots games are not configurable at the operators end. Due to the nature of the game Goblin’s Cave has several possible house edge values; playing max coins the house edge is 0.68%. Playing less than max coins raises the house edge substantially to 4.3%. The Playtech information on this game isn’t clear, but the assumption is that these are the figures for optimal playing strategy and as such may not be representative of the average player. These figures should be valid at all Playtech casinos.
A fantastic slots/strategy combination.
Goblin’s Cave had 3 reels, 3 paylines and you can bet up to 5 coins on each of the paylines.
The ‘Ruby’ symbol is wild and substitutes for the ‘Lantern’ bonus symbol.
There are two bonus features when playing Goblin’s Cave and the first bonus feature is active on every spin. When you first hit the spin button, only the bottom set of reels is spun. You are then given the option to hold certain symbols, any symbols you hold on the first set of reels will be held on all three sets of reels. When you next hit the spin button all five sets of reels will spin with the symbols you selected held in place. This ability to pick and choose which symbols are discarded and which are held means that this game is strategy based and as such there is a mathematically correct decision with any given set of symbols. Unfortunately at the present time we are unaware of the optimal strategy.
The second bonus feature is activated when you receive 3 of the Lantern bonus symbol on any of the paylines. When this happens you will be taken to a new screen showing 11 chests. Pick one of the chest to reveal your prize.
A perfect example of why you should always play max coins, Goblin’s Cave is fantastically good fun. It would have been nice if the house edge information was a little clearer.
