Totem Lightning Slot Review

The Totem Lightning game can be found at casinos offering Red Tiger software. Red Tiger is a relatively new software developer in the online gaming market, having only been in operation since 2014. Red Tiger focus primarily on slots games but do offer a few table games, albeit a very limited range of them. In compliance with UK gaming legislation, Red Tiger publish the RTP/House Edge information for their slots games within their pay tables. As such, we can say that the House Edge for Totem Lightning is 3.93%.

Totem Lightning is a 5 reel game that is 4 symbols high. The game functions using traditional paylines, with 40 in total. Playing from left to right.

Symbols

High Paying Symbol –The highest paying symbol in the game is the “Golden Eagle” symbol. The “Golden Eagle” symbol pay out 88 times the bet if you can land 3 as part of a winning payline; 388 times the bet if you can pay out 4 as part of a winning payline; 888 times the bet if you can land 5 as part of a winning payline.

Bonus – 3 or more of the Bonus symbol anywhere on the reels will trigger the Totem Multiplier feature.

Features

Symbol Strike Bar – This feature is triggered at random. When it is activated, lightning will strike the Symbol Bar that sits to the right of the reels. It will choose a low paying symbol and then hit all matching symbols on the reels with lightning. When this happens those low paying symbols will disappear and with new symbols added to the reels for a re-spin. If you land a winning combination following a Symbols Strike the process will continue, with lightning striking a new low paying symbol. This process can continue until all the low paying symbols have been removed from the reels.

Reel Strike – This feature is triggered at random. When it is activated, lightning will strike the reels and hitting a number of symbols and truing them all into identical symbols.

Totem Multiplier – If you trigger the Totem Multiplier by landing three Bonus symbols on a single spin then you will have the chance to play the game’s Bonus. When this happens a large totem pole will appear with various multipliers, all increasing in value as you ascend the totem. At the very top is the 1000x multiplier that is the game’s jackpot. You ascend the totem pole by choosing from a number of different pipes. Essentially this is a tile flipping game, with each pipe assigned a value that will move you a number of spaces up the totem pole. Get to the top and you will win the game’s jackpot.

Conclusion

Totem Lightning is an excellent looking game, that more than meets the aesthetic standards set by modern slots designers. The symbols are bright, colourful and detailed. If I had one complaint to make it would be that outside of the symbols themselves there really isn’t very much to look at. The game comes with an excellent bonus feature that gives you the chance to hit the 1000x multiplier jackpot. Along with that you get a few randomly triggered features that help to add some excitement to the game when you least expect it. This is all very encouraging stuff but is just not enough for us to get too excited. Where are our free spins? Where are the wild symbols? And, where is that little spark of magic that we know Red Tiger can be capable of? The house edge is lower than most games in their back catalogue but the gameplay is weaker too. This is not a bad game but it is a difficult one to get very excited about.

Sounds good

Situated in in the south-west Pacific Ocean is the island of New Zealand. The population of New Zealand is quickly approaching the 5 million mark. The gambling sector in New Zealand is incredibly healthy and all forms of gambling are popular with citizens of this jurisdiction. New Zealand regulates gambling and also forbids any advertising to citizens resident in its jurisdiction that may induce them to gamble with foreign operators and fines are levied against operators that are found to be doing so. It appears that players from New Zealand are permitted to gamble with providers situated beyond its own shores – there is no record of any criminality or prosecution attached to the activity but New Zealand does not offer player protection if a player has a complaint against a foreign based operator.
