If you intend to play a lot of Aces & Eights we would advise learning the optimal strategy for the game you’ll be playing. Below you’ll find a strategy trainer that will allow you to practice the game and correct you when you make mistakes;
Aces and Eights is regularly referred to as ‘The Dead Man’s Hand’. This derives from the hand of poker that Wild Bill Hickok held when he was shot from behind in a bar in the town of Deadwood. While the most commonly cited hand was the two black Ace and the two black Eights, verification of this information has not been possible and as such numerous other hands have been suggested and the kicker card is widely contested.
*All figures in this article rely on use of a strategy optimized to the specific paytable in use. Use of any other strategy will increase the House Edge. You can find the optimized strategy for any paytable using the calculators on this page.
