L&L Europe and BetBlocker Going Dutch

by Glenn Baird - May 17, 2021

Malta based L&L Europe will team up with the UK charity, BetBlocker, to introduce to market the first blocking software in the Dutch language.

As things stand there is a significant obstacle preventing a regulated Dutch market from providing the relevant support to players within that country. Having no blocking software available to Dutch players in the Dutch language is a problem that L&L Europe and BetBlocker have looked to address.

L&L Europe took it upon themselves to reach out to BetBlocker founder and trustee, Duncan Garvie, in an attempt to find a way to make a safer gambling experience for Dutch players.

Following some exchanges, it was agreed that L&L Europe will fund the necessary technical upgrades to make the app available in Dutch and will also provide customer support in that language as well.

Duncan Garvie, Trustee and Founder of BetBlocker, said: "BetBlocker is an invaluable aid to anyone looking for help controlling their gambling, no matter where they live or the language they speak. But providing a solution of this nature is technically challenging and where users do encounter technical issues it is important that we can communicate with them clearly.

"Obtaining funding for a charitable enterprise like BetBlocker is challenging and as the majority of our funding comes under the UKGC's RET program, we have to target our efforts primarily towards UK players. This cooperation with L&L Europe allows BetBlocker to expand our service to native Dutch speakers in a manner that is sustainable for the charity. We are really excited to expand the service in this manner and hope that other operators may consider helping us to expand the service to other languages and markets."

Jan Wienk, Marketing Manager & Head of product development at L&L Europe, added: “We are really looking forward to kicking-off this project and enhancing an already proven safer gambling tool, recognised by the UKGC as an effective support for problem gamblers as part of their recovery program.”
