Ladbrokes Coral PLC Promoted to the Championship

by Glenn Baird - August 5, 2017

Ladbrokes and Coral PLC have seen the group’s two main subsidiaries strike deals with two different English Championship clubs within the last few days.

Recently relegated Sunderland FC will be working closely with Coral, who will be providing the club with a betting service on match days for the upcoming season.

Coral will also be advertised on the club’s website and through their social media, highlighting promotions directly to the fans.

Louise Wanless, Sunderland AFC’s head of communications, said:

“We warmly welcome Coral to the club ahead of the commencement of the new season. As a leading UK name in their field they will ensure that our supporters can access a premium in-stadium service for all their match day betting needs and we look forward to working alongside them.”

Coral PR Director Simon Clare stated in response to the deal:

“We are thrilled at Coral to be establishing such a strong UK partnership with Sunderland AFC and we would like to wish everyone connected to the Club, especially all its passionate and dedicated supporters, the very best of luck for the season ahead.”

In what appears to be a very similar deal, Labrokes will heading to Bramall Lane, also in the north of England, where they will work closely with newly promoted Sheffield United.

Along with a similar advertising campaign via the club’s website and social media, Ladbrokes will also be advertising pitch-side through the use of advertising boards.
Jessica Bridge, Ladbrokes Head of PR said:

“We are very excited at Ladbrokes to be forming this dynamic partnership with Sheffield United Football Club as they embark on their mission to be promoted to the Premier League. It promises to be an exciting season ahead for the club and we would like to wish the manager, the players and all the fans the very best of luck.”

Sheffield United FC Head of Commercial Paul Reeves added:

“We are very much looking forward to working with Ladbrokes and giving the supporters access to a well-known high street betting partner who will work with the club to ensure that match day betting services are delivered with the supporter experience very much at the forefront of their offer.”

The two deals sees Ladbrokes Coral PLC enter a quickly expanding market as the English Championship continues to grow into one of the world’s most lucrative second tiers of football.
