LeoVegas Release Novomatic Exclusive
by Glenn Baird - November 25, 2020
From Dusk Till Dawn 10 sees LeoVegas continue their prolific output of exclusive slot games, making this the 7th in as many days and seeing the self-titled “King of Casino” team up with Novomatic with the release of this branded slot.
If you know the film then you will be aware that this was one of George Clooney’s first roles as a leading man. The film was released back in 1996 and came out at the height of E.R.’s popularity. Clooney played the leading male character in the show from its conception in 1994, up until 1999, and used the TV show’s huge appeal to forge himself out a career as a Hollywood actor.
For Dusk Till Dawn was arguably the beginning of his Hollywood trajectory and saw him take on a role that allowed him to combine is standing as both a heartthrob and a funny guy in a film that is part comedy, part horror, part crime and part action movie.
The film also starred Harvey Keitel and Juliette Lewis and was co written by the Quentin Tarantino, who’s finger prints are all over the twists, turns and tongue in cheek dialogue that has become a hallmark of his work.
The film is a contemporary vampire movie, that sneaks its creatures of the night upon its audience as much as it does on its characters. Beginning like a typical Quentin Tarantino movie involving guns, wise guys and money, before jumping ship and heading into the darker world of vampires.
You also have 2 very different real worlds that contrast as the action moves from the US and over the border into Mexico. Themes associated with the Mexican festival, Day of the Dead, ironically come to light as the sun goes down, with Mexico painted as this mysterious, unknown entity, something that many Americans fear. Arguably, there are socio-political undertones at play here, tapping into a fear of immigration and a what may have wrongly been portrayed as coming from across the border.
Why exactly this film has been chosen as the vehicle for a new slot is arguably as unexpected as the film’s now infamous plot/genre twist. The film is now well-over 2 decades old and the vampire renascence happened 10 years ago. However, what hasn’t changed is how fun this film is and perhaps, that alone, is enough to justify the branding of this slot.
From Dusk Till Dawn 10
There is nothing out of the ordinary, in terms of the aesthetic, however this slot does look different to most. What I mean by this is the symbols and the background are both taken directly from the film, whereas instead of a standard set of reels you play over 2 sets, with one of them sitting at a typical 5×4 with the second sitting at a less conventional 5×12. The fact that there are 2 reels at all is surprising, but hen again it could be a play on the duality contained within the film.
You play across both sets of reels meaning there are a massive 100 different paylines. The betting variety is pretty vast too ranging from 0.6 to 300 units, which obviously needs to be approached with a degree of care and an awareness of how much you can afford to lose.
The house edge is a bit too high for us but I have see worse. However, more often that not you will find the house edge of a slot come in at much less than the 4.98% that this one is giving us.
There are Wilds and Free Spins and you can win a lot of those Free Spin if you hit enough Bonus symbols.
There is a lock and spin feature that is essentially a series of respins that can see you upgrade the symbols on the reels.
As for the two reels, they come into their own during the Free Spins as Wilds move from the small reels to the large ones, where they expand to increase your chances of winning.
