Yggdrasil Hoping to Make Waves with new Splitz Technology

by Glenn Baird - December 11, 2019

Today will see the release of Yggdrasil’s much-anticipated Splitz technology, something that they have been alluding to on Twitter for a few weeks now and something that punters will get to experience in January when the Temple Stacks slot enters casinos.

But what exactly is Splitz technology, will we find out exactly what it is today and if we do, should we be as excited about it as Yggdrasil want us to be?

Product Owner at the company, Natalya Ovchinnikova, had this to say on the matter: “We are delighted to launch Splitz, an electrifying new mechanic that gives our slot gameplay an exhilarating boost.

“The feature exemplifies our constant drive for innovation, and we look forward to introducing it to operator partners and players.”

That makes Splitz sound great but it doesn’t exactly tell us what it is. However, after some digging it would appear that Splitz will be a bit like the Megaways slots that Big Time Gaming have smashed the market with.

In a Splitz slot you begin with a certain number of ways that you can win, but that can vary with each consecutive spin, up to a potential 200,000 plus ways to win.

So what might this mean for Yggdrasil? Well, if the technology proves to be popular then they could end up providing other developers with access to it, for a price. If they can brand Splitz in the same way that Big Time Gaming have done with Megaways then you could see Yggdrasil’s influence popping up all over the place.

If this is to be the huge money spinner that Yggdrasil want it to be then they have to hit the ground running with Temple Stacks. This means that Splitz needs to compliment Temple Stacks in same way that Megaways complimented Bonanza. If that can happen then who knows what levels Yggdrasil might reach.

Ultimately, we’ll know more in January when we get our hands on Temple Stacks, but there can be no doubt that Yggdrasil are hoping that this new technology will see them rank much more highly in the rankings for top rated slots.
