Alkemor’s Tower Slot Review

The Alkemor’s Tower slots game is produced by BetSoft. BetSoft are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and have recently started offering their own casino platform. The company was founded in 2006, entering the slots market 4 years later. Betsoft do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Alkemor’s Tower is 5.04%.

Alkemor’s Tower has 5 reels and each reel is 3 symbols high. Instead of using paylines you need to land matching symbols on 3 consecutive reels. There are 243 different possible combinations, playing from left to right.

Special Symbols

Elemental Symbols – There are 4 elemental symbols to replicate the 4 elements of earth, wind, fire and water. Each one is represented by a different coloured potion bottle. They can only appear on reel 3 and combine with spell books on reels 1 and 2 to trigger the game’s Elemental Spells feature. You must reveal a Spell Book on both reel 1 and 2, along with a potion bottle before the Elemental Spells feature is triggered. Spell Books on reels 4 and 5 determine the strength of the spells that are triggered.

Elemental Vine – Elemental Vine symbols can appear on the middle reel. When they do so they will devour neighbouring symbols and hand out rewards for each one. Elemental Vine symbols are only available on the “Nature Floor” Free Spins feature.

Black Hole – Black Hole symbols can appear on reels 2 and 4. When they do so they will devour neighbouring symbols and hand out rewards for each one. Black Hole symbols are only available on the “Celestial Floor” Free Spins feature.

Spell Books – There are 3 different Spell Book symbols. The main Spell Book symbol is the most important as it will allow you to trigger every special feature in the game. The Spell Book wrapped in Vines is needed in combinations with main Spell Book symbols to trigger one set of Free Spins, whilst the Spell Book with the Silver Sun will trigger the other set of Free Spins when it is combined with main Spell Book symbols.

Bonus Features

Elemental Spells – Below is a list of the 4 different Elemental Spells, how to trigger and what they do:

Water Elemental Spell – To trigger the Water Elemental Spell you need to land a Spell Book on reels 1 and 2, along with the deep blue coloured Potion symbol. When this happens, all Spell Book symbols and Elemental symbol will turn Wild. The Spell Book on reel 1 will turn into a random pay symbol. Wins will then be multiplied by the number of Spell Book and Elemental symbols that triggered the feature.

Earth Elemental Spell – To trigger the Earth Elemental Spell you need to land a Spell Book on reels 1 and 2, along with the brown coloured Potion symbol. When this happens, all Spell Book symbols and Elemental symbols on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 will turn Wild. All other symbols are then destroyed and new symbols will replace them. Wins will then be recalculated. No new features can be triggered through the addition of the new symbols.

Air Elemental Spell – To trigger the Air Elemental Spell you need to land a Spell Book on reels 1 and 2, along with the light blue coloured Potion symbol. When this happens, all Spell Book and Elemental symbols on reels 2, 3 , 4 and 5 will turn Wild, whilst all other symbols are removed from the reels and then thrown back in random positions. The Spell Book on reel 1 will turn into a random pay symbol.

Fire Elemental Spell – To trigger the Fire Elemental Spell you need to land a Spell Book on reels 1 and 2, along with the Red coloured Potion symbol. When this happens, all Spell Book and Elemental symbols on reels 2, 3 , 4 and 5 will turn Wild. Then the new Wild symbols will be added to the reels that will total the number of Spell Book and Potion symbols needed to trigger the feature.

The Nature Floor Free Spins – To trigger the Nature Floor Free Spins you need to reveal 2 Spell Books on reels 1 and 2 and a Vine Spell Book to gain 10, 12 or 15 Free Spins depending on the number of elemental symbols that are also present on the trigger spin. During this feature a number of new symbols will become available, along with the “Elemental Vine” symbol.

The Celestial Floor Free Spins – To trigger the Celestial Floor Free Spins you need to reveal 2 Spell Books on reels 1 and 2 and a Celestial Spell Book to gain 10, 12 or 15 Free Spins depending on the number of elemental symbols that are also present on the trigger spin. During this feature a number of new symbols will become available, along with the “Black Hole” symbol.

Double Up – After any win you can risk what you have earned by pressing the Double Up button. You bet half or all of your winnings and will win or lose based on the toss of a coin. You can attempt to double up as often as you like, until you lose.

Conclusion

Alkemor’s Tower is a stunning looking game, filled with complex and engaging features. The game is filled with transitional animations that signal the beginning of a feature, be it fire or tornadoes ripping their way across the reels. The base game is a little on the dull side, with practically no additional features in the mode to speak of. However, that can be forgiven when you finally get to the good stuff. There are Free Spins, Wilds, but only during special features and the fun elemental features to keep you engaged throughout. The house edge is much higher than we would have wanted it to have wanted it to be, meaning the game does not offer much in the way of value for money. If it’s a fun game you’re after and you don’t care too much about the cost, then maybe you’ll enjoy this game, but the cost as it is means we cannot recommend it.
