Arthur’s Gold Slot Review

Released July 2020

The Arthur’s Gold slot can be found at Microgaming casinos. Microgaming as a standard now publish the slots house edge information of all their games at any online casino that holds a UKGC license (this is a requirement for all UKGC licensed casinos). As such we can say that the House Edge of Arthur’s Gold is 3.8%. When playing at any venue that does not hold a UKGC license and does not specifically publish the Return to Player information for their game, this information should be used as a guideline only as we cannot confirm whether or not this game is configurable.

Arthur’s Gold is a 5 reel slot, with 3 symbol spaces in each reel. The slot uses traditional paylines, with 20 in total, playing from left to right.

Theme – King Arthur is the theme and with that you get 5 of the characters from the myths, a large treasure chest and a few shields thrown in for good luck.

Special Symbols

Wild – The “Gold Shield” is the Wild symbol, which will substitute for all symbols other than Scatters.

Scatters – The “Treasure Chest” symbol is the Scatter symbol. You need 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels to trigger the Free Spins.

Special Wilds – The “Red Shield” is the Special Wild symbol and is only available during the Free Spins and on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Double Symbols – All the character symbols in this slot can appear as double symbols. This means that they will count as 2 out of the 3 symbols needed to form a win. Of course, you can have multiple double symbols on the reels at once, which means you can exceed the usual maximum of 5 symbols to a payline.

Bonus Features

Free Spins – If you trigger the Free Spins you will be given 10 spin, no matter how many Scatters you land. However, more Scatters will me a bigger pay out on the triggering spin. When Special Wilds land they will either pay out or fail to pay out as normal and then they will expand to fill the reels they have landed on for an additional Free Spin. The feature can trigger again during the respin to the point that you can have 3 fully expanded Wild reels at once.

Double Up – After every win you have the chance to gamble your prize and double your winnings. This is a simple head or tails feature, where you double your prize if you guess correctly and you lose your winnings if you are wrong. You can gamble and win and then gamble again, but will need to accept losing everything that you have won if you do so. This process can continue indefinitely, that is until you lose.

Conclusion

Arthur’s Gold is nothing to get all that excited about. It isn’t the shiniest looking slot in the world and the features, whilst not bad, aren’t exactly innovative. You get Wilds, Free Spins and Double symbols. Your Free Spins come with expanding Wilds and there is a gamble feature that needs to be applied with caution. The house edge is pretty standard, making this a slot that does the basics well but never really gets out of first gear.
