Avalon II - The Quest for the Grail Slot Review

The Avalon II – The Quest for the Grail slots game can be found at Microgaming casinos. Microgaming as a standard do not publish the slots house edge information of their games. However they lease their slots games out to casinos using other software, some of which do publish this information. So far we’ve only found one casino – BETAT – that has published this information for Avalon II – The Quest for the Grail and they list the house edge as 3%. When playing at any other venue, this information should be used as a guideline only as the game may be configurable.

The knights gather at Camelot for their most famous quest.

The Avalon II – The Quest for the Grail game has 5 reels and does not use standard paylines. Instead any 3 or more matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left side of the reels constitutes a win. This is equivalent to 243 standard paylines.

The ‘Avalon II Logo’ symbol is wild and stacked on all reels. The ‘Lady of the Lake’ symbol is also wild and expands to cover the entire reel whenever it lands on reel 3.

There are two bonus features when playing Avalon II – The Quest for the Grail. The first bonus feature is activated randomly and when this happens Merlin will appear and award you either a cash prize or a multiplier for the winnings from the previous spin.

The second bonus feature is activated when you receive 3 or more of the ‘Holy Grail’ scatter symbol anywhere on the reels. When this happens you will star a chain of bonus features that you will move along each time you activate the bonus feature.

The first stop on the quest is at the Lake of Legends to reforge Excalibur. Excalibur has been split into 6 piece. You can roll the dice up to 10 prizes and need to get all six of the faces to reforge Excalibur. Each piece you receive will award a prize and if you complete the sword in less than 10 rolls you’ll receive an additional cash prize.

The next time you activate the bonus feature you’ll be taken to the Misty Vale where you’ll receive 15 complimentary spins and are allowed to select one of the character symbols to become an additional wild symbol for the duration of the complimentary spins. During the complimentary spins your selected character wild symbol will double all wins it contributes to.

The next time the bonus feature activates you’ll be given the choice of the Forest Falls or Whispering Woods features. The Forest Falls feature awards 20 complimentary spins. During the complimentary spins, each time you receive the Avalon II Logo symbol it will drop down to cover the symbol directly below it and lock in place for the next spin. This will continue until the Avalon II Logo symbol reaches the bottom of the reels. The Whispering Woods feature presents you with 5 shields and you have to select one. When you do you’ll be awarded a prize and given the choice of whether to keep the prize or pick again. You get two chances to pick again if you wish.

The next time the bonus feature is activated you’ll be taken to the Dusky Moors feature where you’ll be shown 12 cards. Turn the cards over to reveal helms, when you’ve revealed 2 matching helms you’ll be paid according to the paytable below the cards.

The subsequent activation of the bonus feature triggers Morgan’s Keep – you will be awarded 20 complimentary spins. During the complimentary spins any symbols that contribute to a winning combination will be paid, then disappear allowing the symbols above to drop down and new symbols to fall in at the top to replace them. This process will keep repeating until no new winning combinations are formed and for each winning combination the multiplier that will be applied to the next winning combination will be increased by one to a maximum of 6.

The next time the bonus feature is triggered you will be taken to the Hall of Shadows to battle the Black Knight. Selected how to defend against his attacks and how to strike against him and for every successful attack or defense you’ll win a prize. If you defeat the Black Knight you will receive the Holy Grail.

The final time you activate the bonus feature you’ll be taken to the Isle of Avalon where you’ll play a Wheel of Fortune style game. Three wheels spin and the numbers that they stop on make up the digits of the multiplier that will be applied to your line bet. For example, if the wheels stopped on 6, 2 and 3 your line bet would be multiplied by 623. If the third wheel stops on the 0 it triggers a fourth wheel to spin allowing you to receive a far bigger multiplier.

Conclusion

It’s hard to fault anything about Avalon II – The Quest for the Grail. Frankly it’s got great game play and so many bonus features that are entertaining and diverse. It’s more than worth the ticket price.
