The Beetlejuice Megaways slot is produced by Blueprint Gaming. Blueprint Gaming are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and do not offer their own casino platform. Instead they lease their games out to casinos using other platforms. Blueprint Gaming do not always publish the RTP information for their slots in the paytable. However, in this instance they have done, which means we know that the house edge for Beetlejuice Megaways is 4%.
Beetlejuice Megaways is a 5 reel slot, with each reel varying in height. The number of symbols that make up a reel can change at random, with the potential for each reel to contain 2, 3 or 6 symbols in total. Each time an avalanche (see below) triggers the top half of the reels will unlock, doubling the number of symbols in each reel. This means that each reel during avalanches can be 4, 6 or 12 symbols high. When this happens the number of megaways will become 248, 832.
Avalanches – Every time you form a win the symbols involved will disappear, existing symbols will drop down into those places and new symbols will be added at the top of the reels. Win again and the process will repeat and will continue doing so as ling as you keep landing wins.
You don’t need me to tell you what this slot is about, thanks to the name that has been given to this particular branded slot. This was Tim Burton’s first big hit and it came with all the usual modern gothic trappings that we have come to associate with the famous director. Characters from the film make their way onto the reels that are nestled in front of some psychedelic pink and blue swirls.
Wild – The Wild symbol will substitute for all symbols other than the Bonus symbol and the Ghost symbols. The Wild symbol does not have any value of its own and can only contribute to other symbol combinations.
Bonus – The Bonus symbols are the “Beetlgeuse”. You need to land 3 of them anywhere on the reels at once to trigger the Free Spins feature.
Ghost – The “Ghost” symbols are essentially mystery symbols. This means that when they land on the reels transform into the same symbol across the reels. The “Ghost” symbol cannot turn into Wilds or Bonus symbols.
BluePrint Gaming keep coming up with new exciting brands to help further their love affair with the megaways technology. In this instance they have tapped into some 80s nostalgia with eh classic Tim Burton movie. In all honesty the slot doesn’t look that great. The design is quite basic with a few bright colours in the background and some stills from the film used as the main symbols. I can’t help but think that much more could have been made of the source material but at least the reels have the split down the middle that give you the chance to land the biggest number of megaways that I have ever seen from a BluePrint Gaming slot before. You get Free Spins, Wilds and mystery symbols. The house edge is offering average value for money and, to be honest, that is how I would describe the overall quality of the slot.
