Birds! Slot Review

The Birds! slots game is produced by BetSoft. BetSoft are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and have recently started offering their own casino platform. The company was founded in 2006, entering the slots market 4 years later. Betsoft do not always publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files, meaning that we often need to refer to RTP provided by an operator. As such we know that the house edge for Birds! is 5%.

The Birds! game has 5 reels and each reel is 3 symbols high. The game does not use traditional paylines, instead you need to form clusters of three or more symbols, connecting vertically or horizontally. Diagonal connections will not count.

Special Symbols

Wild – The Wild symbol is the multi-coloured bird and will substitute for all other symbols (birds).

Bonus Features

Cascading wins – Each time you reveal a winning the cluster, the birds that make it up will disappear and will be replaced by a new set of birds, giving you the chance to win again on a single spin. There is no limit on the number of times that the process can be repeated.

Free Flights Bonus – The more you cascade in this game the more “Free Flights” (Free Spins) you will be given. You will need to reveal at least 4 winning combinations in a row before the feature is triggered:

4 wins in a row will awards you with 8 Free Flights.

5 wins in a row will award you with 12 Free Flights.

6 wins in a row will award you with 20 Free Flights.

7 wins in a row will award you with 14 Free Flights, plus the number of winning combinations that you have spun in a row.

Free Flights can be re-triggered, without limit during the feature. You can keep track on your progress via the meter on the left-hand side of the screen that fills with blue liquid after each successful spin.

Double Up – After any win you can risk what you have earned by pressing the Double Up button. You bet half or all of your winnings and will win or lose based on the toss of a coin. You can attempt to double up as often as you like, until you lose.

Birds! is well designed game that sees the traditional reels replaced by electricity lines, with all the symbols made up of cute, cuddly, brightly coloured creatures. The colours are vibrant, not just from our critters’ plumage but also from the background. During the base game the action takes place in a gardened area within a city, framed by two lampposts, linked by electricity lines. Things switch to the countryside during the free spins, with green fields and pylons taking centre stage. However, the game’s most interesting aesthetic quality has to be the way the birds tumble from the lines when you land yourself a winning combination. Each bird has its own signature move following on from a win and despite the slow transitions between spins, it’s the game’s design that allows us to praise it. As for the features, well there aren’t very many to discuss. You have the cascades and free spins, but that is pretty much all you get. The house edge is also poor, meaning, that despite all the hard work that the design crew have put in, there’s not a huge amount else to recommend here.
