Blood Queen Slot Review

The Blood Queen slot game can be found at casinos offering Iron Dog software. Iron Dog are one of the smaller software providers currently on the market, but the appear to be a subsidiary of the far larger and better established 1x2Gaming. They do not offer a full casino platform, but primarily seem to be used as a bolt on package for extra slots games. Iron Dog do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game paytable. As such we know that the house edge for Blood Queen is 3.96%.

Blood Queen consists of 5 reels, 3 symbols high with 30 different paylines, playing from left to right.

Special Symbols:

The Blood Queen – The “Blood Queen” symbol is the most valuable in the game, offering the most lucrative bet multipliers. “Blood Queen” symbols will earn you 30 times the bet, 4 will be 200 times the bet and 5 “Blood Queen” symbols will multiply the bet by 1000.

Wild – The “Gargoyle” is the wild symbol, substituting for all symbols other than free spins. There is a random chance that a Wild symbol could appear at the top of reels and expand to fill them. More than one wild can appear during a single spin.

Free Spins – Combinations of the “Kissing” symbol will award the player with free spins. 3 “Kissing symbols awards 20 free spins, 4 “Kissing” symbols awards 30 free spins and 5 “Kissing” symbols awards 50 free spins.

Bonus Features:

Free Spins – Once you have triggered the free spins feature you have to choose to either side with “Van Hell” or the “Blood Queen”. If you choose “Van Hell” the blue “Holy Water” vial symbol becomes wild. If you choose the “Blood Queen” the pink “Blood Potion” vial becomes wild.

“Holy Water” – When you reveal a “Holy Water” wild symbol during the free spin feature it will spread to cover symbols. With each consecutive spin the symbol spreads by 1 and sticks. Once you have covered 4 symbols in a square all the “Holy Water” vials will disappear.

“Blood Potion” – When you reveal a “Blood Potion” wild on the top of a reels 2,3 or 4, it will expand to fill it and stick in place. With each subsequent spin the “Blood Potion” reel will move one space to the left until it falls off the grid. You can have more than 1 expanded “Blood Potion” wild in play at the same time.

Conclusion

Blood Queen is a take on an old slots theme favourite. Every software developer needs to have a vampire game and for Iron Dog, they’ve chosen to do down the more traditional vampire route and plunge us unto deepest, darkest Transylvania. The game looks OK, with some interesting background graphics but, to be honest, the symbols lack the detail and intricacy that many slots games have to offer these days. There is no bonus feature but the free spins do offer some variety in the game play. No re-spins is disappointing but the additional wilds adds something to keep you engaged. The house edge is reasonable, sitting at below what we might expect from Iron Dog but a little above the industry average.
