Book of Ba Slot Review

Released April 2020

The Book of Ba slot game can be found at casinos offering Tom Horn software. Tom Horn is a relatively new software developer in the online gaming market, having only been in operation since 2016. Tom Horn focus primarily on slots games with no table games as of yet. In compliance with UK gaming legislation, Tom Horn publish the RTP/House Edge information for their slots games within their pay tables. As such, we can say that the House Edge for Book of Ba is 4%.

Book of Ba is a 5-reel game that is 3 symbols high. The slot has 9 different paylines, playing from left to right.

Theme

Book of Ba is an Egyptian themed slot. Ba is an element of the soul represented in bird form that could fly, emphasising the speed and movement of the soul after death. The slot is set in an ancient tomb that has gates lead to the Netherworld. Guarding those gates are lost souls of the dead.

Special Symbols

Wild – There is no Wild symbol in this slot.

Free Spins – The “Book of Ba” is the Free Spins symbol. You need 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels to trigger the Free Spins.

Features

Shatter Mode – Shatter mode is the equivalent to avalanches or tumbles. Every winning combination will see the symbols involved disappear and new symbols added to the reels in their place, giving you another chance to win. If you do so the process continues and will do so indefinitely until you fail to land a winning combination. With each shatter you will increase a win multiplier by 1, up to a maximum of x4 the bet.

Free Spins – If you trigger the Free Spins you will be given 10 in total and they can be retriggered. Before the feature begins a symbol will be chosen at random that will expand every time it lands on the reels.

Conclusion

The Book of Ba slot is Tom Horn’s first Egyptian themed game for a number of years and whilst it won’t set the world alight this is a very solid effort. You get Free Spins that can retrigger and come with a special expanding symbol and you get tumbles, or in this case shatters. You don’t get Wilds, which is disappointing and the house edge could be offering better value for money. The slot looks OK but there are far better examples on this theme out there.
