The Caishen’s Arrival slots game is produced by BetSoft. BetSoft are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and have recently started offering their own casino platform. The company was founded in 2006, entering the slots market 4 years later. Betsoft do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Caishen’s Arrival is 4.26%.
Caishen’s Arrival plays over 5 reels, each one 3 symbols. The game uses traditional paylines with 25 in total playing from left to right.
Wild – The Wild symbol is the “Caishen”, which will substitute for all symbols other than the Free Spins symbol. However, in this instance the Wild symbol will substitute for the paying Scatter symbol, but only one Wild per spin. Wild only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4.
Scatter – The Scatter symbol is the “Golden Purse”. Three or more of them anywhere on the reels at once will award an instant win. The “Golden Purse” can form combinations with the Wild symbol, but only the one Wild symbol.
Free Spins – The Free Spins symbol is the “Red Ticket”. The “Red Ticket” symbol will only appear on reels 1 and 5 and triggers the Free Spins feature when you land one on each of them.
Valuable symbol – The game’s most valuable symbol is the “Tortoise”.
Stacked Wild Re-Spins – If you can land a reel that is fully stacked with Wilds then you will trigger a re-spin with the stacked Wilds held in place.
Free Spins – If you trigger the Free Spins you will be awarded 10 in total. During the Free Spins all wins are multiplied by 3 and the feature can be retriggered.
Double Up – After any win you can risk what you have earned by pressing the Double Up button. You bet half or all of your winnings and will win or lose based on the toss of a coin. You can attempt to double up as often as you like.
Caishen’s Arrival isn’t the first Caishen themed slot I’ve seen this year and if the trend I have noticed so far is anything to go by I really don’t imagine this one will last long in the memory. For anyone who does not know, Caishen is the Taoist god of Wealth, which explains why he keeps popping up in slot games. You get Free Spins, Wilds, Re-spins and Scatter symbols. The Free Spins retrigger and the Scatter symbols can form combinations with the Wilds, so you would think that we are on to a winner here, right? Almost, but not quite. The house edge for this slot is far too high, meaning that it does not offer particularly good value for money.
