Cloud Quest Slot Review

The Cloud Quest game can be found at casinos offering Play ‘n Go software. Play ‘n Go are a growing provider in the industry and have a rapidly expanding portfolio of both slots games and clients. They do offer a full casino platform, but primarily seem to be used as a bolt on package for extra slots games. Play ‘n Go do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such, we know that the house edge for Cloud Quest is 3.48%.

The Cloud Quest game is made up of 5 reels, each one 5 symbols high. There are 20 paylines but the game does not work like a standard slots game. For a start, the grid is much larger than a standard slots game and in this instance you win by generating combinations of 3 or more symbols horizontally, vertically and diagonally. Winning symbols will be cleared from the grid, freeing up space for new symbols to drop down on the next spin.

Wild – The golden “Phoenix” is the Wild symbol.

Scatter – The “Power Stone” is the Scatter symbol.

Bonus Features:

Wild – When any three symbols make up a winning combination the middle symbol will be transformed into a Wild symbol, allowing further combinations to be made.

Super Power – To trigger the Super Power feature you need to fill the Power Meter at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. To do so you need to generate enough energy to fill up the 10 sections of the meter. You fill up one section when you reveal a 3-symbol combination of Power Stones. You fill up 2 sections if you can reveal a 4-symbol combination of Power Stones and 5 Power Stones will fill up 3 sections of the Power Meter. You need to land subsequent winning combinations to do so. When you fill the Power Meter you will trigger the Super Power bonus. When this happens you will be granted a free spin with a randomly chosen super power in play:

Hive of Fortune – All wins during the free spin are multiplied by 5.

Emblem of Endurance – Any combinations containing all Wild symbols will be cleared.

Scatter of Success – All symbols become Scatters and any wins are multiplied by the total bet.

Mark of Multitude – All winning combinations create Wild symbols.

Bonus Round – If you can reveal a winning combination on the highlighted bonus section of the grid you will unlock the Bonus Round. A new screen will appear containing six disks, each one with a number between 5 and 20. One disk will be chosen at random and indicates the number of initial free spins you will receive in the Bonus Round. You then get to choose which one of the 3 characters you want to battle for you during the free spins. You then take on a series of monsters, fighting them using a 3 reel slot. Each winning combination goes some way towards defeating the monster and every time you do so you will receive an additional 3 free spins. There are 5 monsters to defeat in total and killing the final one will multiply your bet by 100, with all remaining free spins multiplied by 2.

Level Up – Defeating monsters in the bonus rounds will allow you to level up, with the chance to become the level of TITAN. Unfortunately, this particular feature will gain you nothing other than the title it bestows.

Clearing the Grid – If you manage to clear the entire grid you will be awarded 500 coins.

Cloud Quest is not a game for a slots traditionalist. This thing is relentless, with an almighty sprinkling of magic dust thrown in for good measure. Cloud Quest feels like a computer game, an example of a slots game that offers so much more than a few cherries and bells whirling round on a 3-reel fruit machine. The game looks incredible, with detailed characters and fantasy landscapes all emphasising the effort that the software designers have gone to here. There always seems to be something going on and the bonus features are exciting and immersive. I would, however, question the inclusion of levels that hold absolutely no benefit, especially when they are sold to us as a feature on the game’s paytable. The House Edge is pretty average, meaning that you play this game because the theme, the narrative and perpetual spinning and whirring leaves you immersed and entertained. Cloud Quest won’t be to everyone’s taste but for anyone looking for a game that looks good and offers variety, this might just be the game for you.
