Crystal Rift Review

Released: November 2018

The Crystal Rift slots game can be found at Microgaming casinos. Microgaming as a standard now publish the slots house edge information of all their games at any online casino that holds a UKGC license (this is a requirement for all UKGC licensed casinos. As such we can say that the House Edge of Crystal Rift is 4%. When playing at any venue that does not hold a UKGC license and does not specifically publish the Return to Player information for their game, this information should be used as a guideline only as we cannot confirm whether or not this game is configurable.

Crystal Rift is a 5 reel game that is 3 symbols high. There are 25 paylines in total, paying from left to right and right to left.

Special Symbols

Wild – The wild symbol is the “Clear Cube Cluster” symbol, replacing all other symbols.

Bonus Features

Bonus Falls – This feature triggers every time you spin to reveal a winning combination. When this happens, all symbols that make up the winning payline disappear, with the remaining symbols dropping down into the spaces this creates. New symbols will also fall to fill up the reels. This process will continue until you fail to reveal a winning payline.

Wild Grid Feature – At the beginning of each Bonus Fall a Wild Grid is chosen at random. This will be displayed on the grid. After 3 successful Bonus Falls in a row the Grid is triggered and every symbol that lies within the grid is turned into a Wild symbol. This only lasts for that one turn and will re-trigger when.

Closing Thoughts

Crystal Rift is a solid offering from Micro Gaming, doing the best it can with a relatively bland theme. We’ve all seen crystal themed games before and the vast majority tend to underwhelm. In this instance the game looks good, set in the bowels of a deep, dark cave. The crystals look good as do the dramatic payline wins. The fall down bonus means you have the chance at a little something extra every time you win, helping to break up any monotony that might have otherwise set in. The house edge is reasonable but nothing amazing, meaning you will find better value out there if you want to go mine for it.
