Curious Cabinet Slot Review

The Curious Cabinet slot game can be found at casinos offering Iron Dog software. Iron Dog are one of the smaller software providers currently on the market, but the appear to be a subsidiary of the far larger and better established 1x2Gaming. They do not offer a full casino platform, but primarily seem to be used as a bolt on package for extra slots games. Iron Dog do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game paytable. As such we know that the house edge for Curious Cabinet is 5%.

The Curious Cabinet consists of 5 reels, 4 symbols high with possible 40 different paylines, playing from left to right.

Special Symbols:

Wild – The “Rose” is the game’s Wild symbol and will substitute for all symbols other than the “Monster”, “Doll” and “Drawer” symbols.

“Doll” Scatter – “Doll” symbols act as Scatters when 4 or more parts of them appear on the reels at once. Winning “Doll” symbols can expand to fill 3 symbols on a reel.

“Monster” Scatter – “Monster” symbols act as Scatters when 4 or more parts of them appear on the reels at once. Winning “Monster” symbols can expand to create a 2x2 “Monster” grid on the reels.

Silver Drawer – The “Silver Drawer” symbol activates a few special features, including free spins.

Gold Drawer – The “Gold Drawer” symbol only appears during free spins and can act as a multiplier.

Bonus Features:

Silver Drawer Features – A single “Silver Drawer” can appear on reels 2 and 4 and can award various features chosen at random:

Re-Spins – If a re-spin is triggered then a Wild “Rose” symbol will stick in place and a win is guaranteed.

Multiplier – A x2 multiplier could be added to a payline at random.

Silver Coins – During the main game Silver Drawers can reveal a number of coins: 40, 80, 160 or 400 are available. During free spins they can reveal 20, 40, 60 or 80 coins.

Empty – A “Silver Drawer” can be empty, at which point it will reveal a set of “Creepy Hands” symbols.

Free Spins – A “Silver Drawer” on reels 2 and 4 could trigger 8 free spins. During the Free Spins a row of 5 Gold and Silver Drawers will appear. With each spin at least one drawer will open and reveal a prize. Up to three expanding Wild symbols can appear on any Free Spin.

Gold Drawers– Gold Drawers are only available during free spins. The can reveal a x5 multiplier or a large bonus payment of up to 2000 coins. Gold Drawers can also be empty and give you nothing.

Conclusion

The Curious Cabinet is a fun slots game that is hitting the market just in time for Halloween. The game has a “Little Shop of Horror”, “Rocky Horror Picture Show” feel to it, with some pretty darn creepy looking dolls added to the reels. The game has the usual Iron Dog look to it, but the theme is a real stand-out for the software developers and is arguably their best-looking game to date. There is a tonne of features to keep you engaged, from the expanding wilds to the various curiosities that the silver and gold drawers can bring. You have free-spins, coins wins and multipliers, along with additional expanding wilds and re-pins that guarantee wins. That all adds up to a fairly immersive experience for a slots game, with the extensive possibilities keeping you engaged once you manage to land those all-important Silver Drawers. The standard Iron Dog 4% House Edge is all present and correct and as I’ve written on numerous occasions is just above the average of what we expect to see from a slots game, meaning that there are games with better value for money out there. All in all, a very good effort from Iron Dog, their best release to date and hopefully a sign of more good things to come.
