Danger: High Voltage Slot Review

The Danger: High Voltage slots game can be found at casinos using Big Time Gaming software. Big Time Gaming is one of the newer software developers in the online gaming market. Alongside many of the smaller casino software providers Big Time Gaming focus exclusively on Slot Games. The company was founded by two individuals who reportedly were involved in the early days of New Tech Media that (via various sales and takeovers) ended up being part of OpenBet. Big Time Gaming publish the slots house edge information of all their games as standard. As such we can say that the House Edge of Danger: High Voltage is 4.03%.

Danger: High Voltage is a 6 reel slots game that is 4 symbols high. The game does not use traditional paylines, instead it using symbol matches through consecutive reels, playing from left to right. In total, there are 4096 different ways to win.

Special Symbols

Wild – There are two wild symbols and they both come fully stacked. The “Fire Wild” and the “Electric Wild” are only available on reel 2-5 and the “Electric Wild” comes with a x6 multiplier. Both wilds substitute for all symbols other than Scatters.

Scatter – The “My Desire” symbol is a Scatter that will award a feature selection if you can land 3 or more of them on a single spin. You can choose between the “Gate of Hell Free Spins” or the “High Voltage Free Spins”. The “My Desire” symbol is also worth more than any other symbol and because it is a scatter it does not need to form a winway to pay out. 6 “My Desire” symbols anywhere on the reels will earn you 100 times your bet.

Day of the Dead Mask – The game’s most valuable symbol (not including the Scatter) is the “Day of the Dead Mask”, which will pay out in combination of 2 or more as part of a win. If you can reveal 5 as part of a winning payline you will earn 25 times your initial bet.

Bonus Features

Gate of Hell Free Spins – If you choose to play the “Gates of Hell” Free Spins you will be awarded 7 Free Spins. At the start of the feature a standard game symbol will be chosen at random to become a Sticky Wild for the duration of the Free Spins. Sticky Wilds will remain in place one they have been revealed throughout the Free Spins and if you can land 4 on a single reel you will be awarded an additional 3 Free Spins. Sticky Wilds can only appear on reels 2-5. And will substitute for all other symbols.

High Voltage Free Spins – If you choose to play the “High Voltage” Free Spins you will be awarded 15 Free Spins. There is a chance that you can land the “High Voltage” Wild between reels 2-5 during the feature. If you do it will fill the reel with different multipliers, ranging from x11 the bet to x66 the bet. Any wild multipliers that help to form a win will be added to the bet. “High Voltage” Wilds will substitute for all symbols other than Scatters. 3 or more Scatters on a single spin will award you with an additional 15 Free Spins.

Conclusion

It’s time to party like it’s 2002 courtesy of the moustached band that shot to fame on the back of tracks like “Danger: High Voltage” and “Gay Bar”. To say I was surprised to hear the actual Electric Six track when I spun the reels would be an understatement and has to go down as one of the best soundtracks that I’ve encountered on any slots game. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t live up to the same promise that the song brought us. This should look so much better than it does and, if anything, having the iconic track has made for a lazy design that is trying to live off of the song’s success. There are some good features though, from the two free spin options to the expanded wilds. The house edge is higher than we would want it to be, meaning there are plenty of games out there offering better value than this. To summarise, I like the song, I like free spin features, but I’d like to see the game look better and offer better value.
