Exploding Pirates Slot Review

The Exploding Pirates slots game can be found at casinos offering Spinomenal software. Spinomenal is one of the newer software developers in the online gaming market. Alongside many of the smaller casino software providers Spinomenal focus heavily on slots games. The House Edge/RTP of the Spinomenal slots games is listed within the paytable for the newer games in their catalogue. For the older games, as Spinomenal is partnered with UK licensed operators and the UKGC license requires the publication of this information, RTP figures can be found on numerous casino sites. As such, we know that the house edge for Exploding Pirates is 1.99%.

Exploding Pirates is a 5 reel game that is 3 symbols high. The game uses 25 paylines, playing from left to right or right to left.

Special Symbols

Wild – The Wild symbol is the “Pirate Captain”, substituting for all symbols other than Free Spins in the main game and “Burn the Rope” symbol during the game’s Free Spins Feature.

Free Spins – The “Pirate with Bomb” symbol is the Free Spins symbol. You need to land 3 anywhere on the reels to trigger the game’s Free Spins feature.

Bonus Features

Free Spins/Burn the Rope – 3 or more “Pirate with Bomb” Free Spin symbols will trigger the Free Spins feature, grant you 10 Free Spins and multiply the bet by x3. There are no Free Spins symbols available during the Free Spins, meaning they cannot be re-triggered in this way.

During the Free Spins there is a length of rope sitting to the right hand side of the reels. Every time you land a “Burn the Rope” symbol, which looks like a torch, you will burn a section of the rope. When you have burned enough of the rope to reach one of the symbols on the rope all of the symbols on the reels that match it will be turned into Wilds. When you reach the 2nd symbol you will be granted an additional Free Spin and when you reach the 3rd symbol you will be granted 3 additional Free Spins.

Conclusion

There’s not much out there to compete with the possibilities that a pirate themed game can bring and I think that Spinomenal have done a decent job of trying to exploit those possibilities as best they can. The game looks good, with detailed symbols and a well drawn background. There are explosions going off during the game, with cannon balls and fire peppering the reels throughout. The characters are detailed but also have a fun cartoonish quality to them. There is a slight narrative going on in the game with the burning of the rope in the Free Spins feature, which allows you to reduce certain characters to no more than a skeleton. There are wilds and a very fun Free Spins feature but the lack of a bonus feature is a little disappointing. However, this shouldn’t be enough to put you off as the house edge is one of the lowest I have seen, weighing in at less than 2% and making the game excellent value for money.
