The Gold Canyon slots game is produced by BetSoft. BetSoft are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and have recently started offering their own casino platform. The company was founded in 2006, entering the slots market 4 years later. Betsoft do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Gold Canyon is 3.88%.
Gold Canyon plays over 5 reels, each one 3 symbols. The game uses traditional paylines with 10 in total playing from left to right.
Wild – The “Cowboy” is the Wild symbol. Wilds will substitute for all symbols, other than the Scatter symbol. They also grow to fill the reel when they land. Wild symbols only appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Scatter – The Scatter symbol is the Dynamite. When 3 or more of them land anywhere on the reels at once they will explode and disappear after paying out. New symbols will then fall into place, giving you another chance to win. You will then be awarded a Free Spin for every symbol that exploded.
Valuable symbol – The game’s most valuable symbol is the “Golden Nugget”, which will pay out 500 times the bet if you can 5 of them as part of a winning payline.
Double Up – After any win you can risk what you have earned by pressing the Double Up button. You bet half or all of your winnings and will win or lose based on the toss of a coin. You can attempt to double up as often as you like.
Gold Canyon is a simple slot game, much more simple than some of BetSoft’s most recent offerings. In all honesty there isn’t really too much here for us to review. You get Wilds and they expand and you get your exploding dynamite that triggers a re-spin and a few Free Spins. You don’t get many Free Spins and there is no bonus game. The theme is a tried and tested one, not quite up to the standards that we have seen in previous BetSoft slots. Our house edge is offering decent value for money and as such I would suggest that this would only be a game for those who want something basic and have an interest in this theme.
