Special Symbols

Bonus Features
Take Risk – Whilst you might not necessarily class this as a bonus feature, it does play a significant role in the gaming experience. With every win you get the chance to try and double your win by trying your luck in a game of “Play Your Cards Right” with the game’s dealer. If you can flip over a card that is higher than the one the dealer is showing you will double your win. Flip a card that is lower than the dealer’s and you lose the lot. This round continues until you either choose to stop gambling or you lose out to the dealer. In the result of a tie, no one wins.
Multipliers and Free Spins – During the main game the 5th reel is covered with multipliersof x2, x3 and x5. However, they don’t actually become active until the Free Spins feature, 12 of which are triggered when you reveal 3 or more Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. There is also a x10 and x20 multiplier available during the free spins.
Conclusion
Ice Pirates is a fantastic looking game. There are quirky cartoonish characters, including penguins, polar bears and pirates, all set against a vibrant artic background. The one bonus that is available is interesting enough but I don’t like the fact that the smaller multipliers available in the main game are only active during the Free Spins. That makes the fifth reel in the game feel as if it is a waste of time for most of the spins. There are also very few high score symbols in the game, so without the multipliers in the free spins it is very difficult to score particularly high in Ice Pirates. We’d like to see more bonus features too, so that the game can properly take advantage of the fun characters that it has at its disposal. He house edge is 4%, the same as every other Endorphina game, which is a little higher than the average that we expect to see from a slots game today.
