Johnny Cash Slot Review

Released October 2020

The Johnny Cash slot can be found at casinos using BGaming software. BGaming is one of the newer software developers in the online gaming market. Unlike many of the smaller casino software providers BGaming offer a relatively complete suite of casino games featuring most of the major table games (other than Craps which isn’t particularly popular online) and even a Video Poker game. The company is operated by the same team responsible for the SoftSwiss casino platform and Direx N.V. license. BGaming do not always publish the slots house edge information of all their games, but have done in this instance and as such we know that the house edge for Johnny Cash is 6.1%.

Johnny Cash is a 5 reel slot that is 3 symbols high. The game uses standard paylines, with 20 in total, playing from left to right.

Theme

This slot has a Western theme. Johnny Cash is not the famous country and western singer songwriter but a cactus outlaw, being chased sown by the sheriff of this small lawless town.

Special Symbols

Wild – The “Sheriff’s Badge” is the slot’s Wild symbol. This means it will substitute for all symbols other than Scatters.

Scatter – The “Dynamite” is the Scatter. You need 3 or more of them to trigger the Free Spins feature. They will also pay out in combinations of 3 or more regardless of paylines.

Bonus Features

Free Spins – If you trigger the Free Spins you will be given 10 spins in total. If you land 3 or more Scatters during your spins then you will retrigger the feature. During the feature, any time you land a Wild symbol it will stick in place until the end of the Free Spins.

The Risk Game – This is a standard gamble feature that will be in play every time you land a winning combination. After a win you can gamble that prize for a chance to double your winnings, but you also risk losing it all. A deck of western themed cards awaits and all you have to do is guess what colour the card you draw will be: black or red. Additionally you can guess what suit will be drawn, which will pay out 4 times the bet.

Conclusion

I like how this slot looks and that’s pretty much where any positivity will need to end. You get Wilds and Free Spins. Your Free Spins can retrigger and they come with sticky Wilds but other than the standard Risk feature there is nothing else for us to get our teeth into. Where this slot really lets us down is the house edge. At over 6%, this slot if offering extremely poor value for money, without a level of entertainment that comes close to making up for it.
