Jolly Roger Slot Review

The Jolly Roger game can be found at casinos offering Play ‘n Go software. Play ‘n Go are a growing provider in the industry and have a rapidly expanding portfolio of both slots games and clients. They do offer a full casino platform, but primarily seem to be used as a bolt on package for extra slots games. Play ‘n Go do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Jolly Roger is 3.12%

The Jolly Roger game is made up of 5 reels, each one 3 symbols high. There are 15 paylines, playing from left to right, excluding Scatters and Bonus symbols.

Wild – The Wild symbol is the “Jolly Roger”, substituting for all symbols other than Scatter and Bonus symbols. The Wild symbol also acts as a multiplier. Two “Jolly Roger” symbols will multiply the win by 10, Three “Jolly Roger” symbols will multiply the win by 100, four will multiply the win between by 1000 and five “Jolly Roger” symbols will multiply the win by 10000.

Scatter – The Scatter symbol is the “Parrot”. Two Scatter symbols will multiply the bet by 2, three will multiply the bet by 5, four by 20 and 5 Scatter symbols will multiply the bet by 400.

Bonus – The “Chest” and the “Map” are both bonus symbols.

Bonus Features:

To trigger the “Chest” bonus you need to collect 3 or more of the “Chest” symbols on an active payline. When you do so you will be taken to a pirate’s cave where 5 chests sit upon a pile of bounty. You will be asked to open two of the chests and reveal the cash prizes that lie inside. The size of the prize is determined by how many chests you had to collect in order to trigger the game in the first place. Three chests will award you with somewhere between 40 and 2000 coins. Four chest will award you with somewhere between 60 and 3000 coins and five chests will award you with somewhere between 80 and 4000 coins.

The game’s other bonus is triggered when you collect three of the “Map” symbols on an active payline. When you do, the three pieces will join together to form one large map with five red crosses on it. You have to choose which three locations you want to dig in. You will win somewhere between 60 and 1200 coins.

Jolly Roger is a solid offering from Play ‘n Go. The game looks reasonably good. The symbols could be more detailed, offering more of a cartoonish style than this theme warranted. There are, however, some cool animations on winning lines, like shimmering diamonds and cannon balls flying from cannons. The two bonus features also look good, but are perhaps too similar to each other to add the variety that so many of us want in our slots games these days. Not having free spins is a big let-down, especially when we have two bonus click and reveal features. The house edge is higher than we would have wanted which makes the game very difficult to recommend.
