Long Pao Slot Review

Released March 2020

The Long Pao slot game can be found at Net Entertainment casinos. Net Entertainment are one of the most established software providers on the market, being founded in 1996. Net Entertainment are a Swedish company but gained enough success to have offices all over the world. Net Entertainment do make the house edge information of their slots games available and this can be found in the help files of the game (usually accessed by pressing the ‘?’ button at the bottom left of the game window). As such, we can state that the House Edge for Long Pao is 4%.

Long Pao is a 5-reel slot, with each reel sitting at 3 symbols high. The slot plays out over 25 traditional paylines, playing from left to right.

Theme

This slot combines a traditional comic book aesthetic with Imperial China. Net Entertainment have released slots like this one before; think Jackhammer and its sequel, but this is the first time I have seen them meld it together with an Asian theme. The symbols look hand drawn and the background looks like a panel from a comic book. It is bright and colourful, a real feast for the eye.

Special Symbols

Wild – The Wild symbol is the “Chinese Writing”, which will substitute for all symbols other than the Free Spins symbol.

Free Spins – The “Dragon” symbol is the Free Spins symbol. You need 5 or more of them to trigger the Free Spins feature.

Bonus Features

Sticky Win – Whenever you land a winning combination the symbols involved will stick in place and, whilst the remaining symbols spin again. If you add to your existing win you will be given another respin, a process that will continue as long as you keep adding to existing wins. Sticky wins will also trigger if you land 3 or more Free Spins symbols, but not the full 5 needed to start the feature. If you add to those 3, then you will be given another spin and is you add to those 4, you will trigger the Free Spins.

Free Spins – 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 plus Free Spins symbols will award 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 Free Spins respectively. 30 is the maximum number you can trigger so even if you get more than the 9 symbols you won’t get any more Free Spins. All coin wins are multiplied by 3.

Conclusion

Long Pao is another in a growing list of East Asian themed slots from the providers over at Net Entertainment. So far, I have to confess that I have been pretty underwhelmed with the recent batch of Asian themed slots that they have been releasing, but in this case the comic book aesthetic adds an extra dimension that might be missing from those other slots. You get respins and Free Spins and those Free Spins come with a multiplier. The house edge is offering decent value for money but is nothing to get all that excited about.
