Lucha Legends Review

Released: October 2018

The Lucha Legends slots game can be found at Microgaming casinos. Microgaming as a standard now publish the slots house edge information of all their games at any online casino that holds a UKGC license (this is a requirement for all UKGC licensed casinos. As such we can say that the House Edge of Lucha Legends is 3.63%. When playing at any venue that does not hold a UKGC license and does not specifically publish the Return to Player information for their game, this information should be used as a guideline only as we cannot confirm whether or not this game is configurable.

Lucha Legends is a 5 reel game that is 3 symbols high. There are 25 paylines in total, playing from left to right and right to left.

Special Symbols

Wild – The Wild symbol is the “Lucha Legends” symbol, replacing all symbols other than Scatters. Wild symbols can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Scatter – The “Championship Belt” symbol activates the game’s Free Spins feature and can appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. Scatter symbols do not need to form a payline to trigger the Free Spins bonus.

Bonus Features

Super Wilds – Super Wilds can trigger randomly in the main game or during the Free Spins feature when the wrestlers smash Wild symbols and turn them Super. Super Wilds can trigger 1 of 2 features:

2 adjacent symbol positions turn wild

Super Wilds are multiplied by x2 or x3

Super Wilds can replace all symbols other than Scatters and Wilds and will only appear on reels 2,3 and 4

Power Up Mode – Power Up Mode can be triggered at any point in the game by pressing the red button on the left-hand side of the screen. When you press the button your bet will be multiplied by 2 and will increase your chances of triggering the Super Wild Feature so that 4 adjacent symbols turn Wild, instead of 2. It will also increase all Super Wild wins to x3 or x5 the bet. Other wins during “Power Up Mode” will not change, so increasing your bet will not increase your standard wins. The house edge will also decrease to 3.62% from 3.63%.

Free Spins – If you can land 3 of the “Championship Belt” Scatter symbols on a single spin then you will be awarded 10 Free Spins. During the Free Spins feature 2 “Championship Belt” symbols will earn you 1 additional free spin, whilst 3 will earn you 10 additional free spins.

Closing Thoughts

Lucha Legends is a great looking game with a fun theme and an upbeat soundtrack. I’ve seen a few games based around Mexican wrestling, with this one right up there amongst the most entertaining. The symbols are bright and colourful with cartoon character wrestlers that come in all sorts of ridiculous shapes and sizes. The music is typically mariachi in style and won’t have you searching for the mute button quite as quickly as most slots games do. The bonus features are very interesting, from the Super Wilds to the Free Spins, with the most interesting feature being the Power Up mode button. This is not a feature for the faint of heart and I mean that sincerely. It is a high risk feature that forces you to spend more for the chance to win more. The house edge does improve when you trigger it, but only by a tiny 0.01 percent, meaning that there is not a huge swing in your favour if you take this on. Speaking of house edge, the game offers reasonable value for money but nothing more than your average slots game.
