Mega Moolah: Absolootly Mad Slot Review

Released May 2020

The Mega Moolah: Absolootly Mad slot can be found at casinos that stock Microgaming titles. Microgaming is a well-established provider of both slots and casino games, with an array of popular slots, including many big-name brands. As a standard Microgaming provides the Return to Player percentage in the help table of all their slots. As such we can say that the House Edge of Mega Moolah: Absolootly Mad is 7.89%.

Mega Moolah: Absolootly Mad is played on a grid consisting of 5 reels and each reel is 3 symbols high. Instead of paylines, you form symbol combinations of 3 or more matching symbols placed across 3 or more adjacent reels, playing from left to right. There are 243 different win combinations available.

Rolling Reels – This slot comes with rolling reels, meaning that each time you form a win, the symbols that did will disappear from the reels, with new ones dropping down in their place, giving you another chance to win. The process will continue as long as you keep landing winning combinations. Rolling Reels also come with a multiplier trail that will be described in the feature section of this review.

Theme

The madness in the title comes from the Mad Hatter, as we find ourselves in the world of Alice in Wonderland. Welcome to Mad Hatter’s tea party where you can find various symbols, such as a rabbit, a Cheshire Cat and cups of tea, that all relate to Lewis Carol’s famous novel.

Special Symbols

Wilds – The “Gold Hat” is the Wild symbol, which will substitute for all symbols, including Free Spins symbol. Wilds only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 and they are collected each time they land throughout one sequence of rolling reels. If you can collect enough you can trigger the Progressive Jackpot feature.

Free Spins – The Free Spins symbol is the “Door”. You need 3 or more of them, anywhere on the reels to trigger the Free Spins feature.

Bonus Features

Multiplier Trail – With each Rolling Reel you will move one space along the Multiplier Trail. The first win will be worth x2 the bet, the second will be worth x3 the bet and every subsequent win after that will be worth x5 the bet.

Free Spins – If you trigger the Free Spins you will be given 8 in total. All wins are multiplied by 3, including the Multiplier Trail wins. This means standard wins are worth x3 the bet, the first rolling reel is worth x6 the bet, the second is worth x9 the bet all subsequent wins along the Multiplier Trail are worth x15 the bet. The feature can be retiggered and remember, Wild do substitute for Free Spins symbols.

Jackpot – If you trigger the Jackpot then you will spin the Wheel to trigger to determine which one you receive. It is worth noting that the higher the bet you play with, the more likely it is that you will trigger the Jackpot. The more Wilds you collect the more likely it is you trigger the Jackpot too. The Jackpots are progressive with an amount from each player’s bet making its way into the pot. The amounts available for each Jackpot will be displayed above the reels.

Conclusion

Mega Moolah: Absolootly Mad is a decent looking slot, using a theme that I have used plenty of times before in the past. There is a lot of entertainment on offer here, from Free Spins and a Jackpot to Wilds and Rolling Reels. The house edge is very high, something that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, given the inclusion of the progressive jackpot. However, I still believe it is much too high in this instance.
