Mysterious is a 4 reel game that is 4 symbols high. The game does not use standard paylines, instead you form wins when you land 3 or more matching symbols across adjacent paylines, with 256 ways to win in total. However, during the Free Spins the number of reels will increase to 6 and 4096 ways to win.

Theme

This slot has a Victorian gothic theme, like something out of Sherlock Holmes or Jekyll and Hyde. There are 3 central characters, all dressed in Victorian garb and the streets depicted in the background screen look like something straight out of a Dicken’s novel. You have a haunted house on top of a hill, lightning strikes, a full moon and rolling mist that bring in the sense of the gothic.

Special Symbols

Wild – Wild symbols don’t come as a part of the base game but are introduced during the Free Spins and the Random Spin Features that I will describe in the Bonus Features section. I will comment on the Wilds during those sections.

Free Spins – You need to land 3 or more of the Free Spins symbols anywhere on the reels to trigger the feature.

Bonus Features

Random Spin Features – There are 3 different Random Spin features that can trigger on any spin. However, only the one that is highlighted has a chance of triggering. You will see which Random Spin feature is highlighted on the left-hand-side of the reels. The Random Spin features are as follows:

The Lord – If this feature triggers then “Lord” Wild symbols are added to the reels. “Lord” Wilds will substitute for all symbols, other than Free Spins symbols and other Wild symbols. “Lord” Wilds can come with a multiplier, up to x5 the bet.

The Lady – If this feature triggers then “Lady” Wild symbols are added to the reels. “Lady” Wilds will substitute for all symbols, other than Free Spins symbols and other Wild symbols. There is a chance that Lady Wild symbols will expand to fill a reel with a mystery symbol chosen at random.

The Baron – If this feature triggers then “Baron” Wild symbols are added to the reels. “Baron” Wilds will substitute for all symbols, other than Free Spins symbols and other Wild symbols. “Baron” Wilds can infect vertically adjacent symbols, turning them into additional Wilds.

Free Spins – If you land 3 or 4 Free Spins symbols then you will be awarded with 8 or 12 Free Spins respectively. During the Free Spins the number of reels will increase to 6 and as such the number of win ways will also increase. Before the feature begins you need to choose between Locking Multipliers or Roaming Wilds:

Locking Multipliers – The “Gold Clock” symbols are Locking Multipliers and if one lands on the reels it will award a Multiplier, up to x12 the bet, to any wins that you land. If you land 2 then they will do same, but will also award 2 additional Free Spins, during which they and the multiplier awarded will lock in place.

Roaming Wilds – Any Wilds that land will become faint and move around the reels on the next spin. If any new Wilds land there is a chance that the Roaming Wild will be added to the reels. This process continues, with the number of Roaming Wilds increasing.
