Ogre Empire Slot Review

Released May 2018

The Ogre Empire slots game is produced by BetSoft. BetSoft are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and have recently started offering their own casino platform. The company was founded in 2006, entering the slots market 4 years later. Betsoft do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Ogre Empire is 4.78%.

The Ogre Empire game has 5 reels and each reel is 3 symbols high. The game uses traditional paylines, 25 in total, playing from left to right.

Special Symbols

Wild – The “Wild” symbol will substitute for all symbols other than those that are specifically designed for Night or Day mode.

Bonus Features

Day Mode – When the sun is up, the Ogre will be awake and special symbols and features that only occur during Day Mode will be in operation. You trigger Day Mode when you reveal a fully stacked Sun symbol on the middle reel.

Sun Bloom Wild Flower – The “Sun Bloom Wild Flower” is a pink flower symbol that is only in play during Day Mode. If you reveal one, it will up to 3 additional symbols wild.

Daytime Ogre Smash – The “Daytime Ogre Smash” is only in play during Day Mode when the ogre is awake. After any random spin the ogre may decided to smash the reels with his club. When he does so he will smash all stone symbols to dust, which will then be replaced by new symbols, giving you another chance to win.

Night Mode – When the sun is down, the Ogre will be asleep and the Joker, King and Queen will come out of hiding to enjoy themselves. You trigger Night Mode when you reveal a fully stacked Moon symbol on reel 3. Special symbols and features that only occur during Night Mode will be in operation:

Joker Symbol – During Night Mode the Joker symbol will appear from behind any “A” symbols and will act as a Wild with a x2 multiplier. Each Joker that is part of a winning payline will increase the bet by x2, up to a maximum of x8.

Queen Symbol – During Night Mode the Queen symbol will appear from behind any “Q” symbols. 3 or more Queen symbols will earn you a win. With 3 earning you 5 coins, 4 earning you 12.50 coins and 5 earning you 37.50 coins, all as part of a winning payline.

King Symbol – During Night Mode the King symbol will appear from behind any “K” symbols. 3 or more King symbols will earn you a win. With 3 earning you 5 coins, 4 earning you 12.50 coins and 5 earning you 50 coins, all as part of a winning payline.

Night Bloom Wild Flower – The “Night Bloom Wild Flower” is a pink flower symbol that is only in play during Night Mode. If you reveal one, it will up to 3 additional symbols wild.

Double Up – After any win you can risk what you have earned by pressing the Double Up button. You bet half or all of your winnings and will win or lose based on the toss of a coin. You can attempt to double up as often as you like.

Conclusion

Ogre Empire has clearly been influenced by a well-known animated Ogre, as the big green chap in this game holds a striking resemblance Dreamworks’ most infamous character. The town that the game is set in also looks very similar to one you might have seen before, as do the king and queen that appear during night mode. All those similarities aside, the game does look excellent, with the differences between night and day adding an excellent aesthetic quality that sets this apart from most other slots games. There might not be any Free Spins or a bonus round, but there are a number of additional features to keep the reels busy and you engaged. The house edge is a full percent higher then we would ever want it to be, meaning that Ogre Empire does not offer the best value for money.
