Pinocchio Slot Review

The Pinocchio slots game is produced by BetSoft. BetSoft are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and have recently started offering their own casino platform. The company was founded in 2006, entering the slots market 4 years later. Betsoft do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Pinocchio is 3.47%.

Pinocchio has 5 reels and each reel is 3 symbols high. The game uses 15 standard paylines, playing from left to right.

Special Symbols

Geppetto – During the standard game set in the Workshop “Geppetto” acts as a Scatter symbol, paying out independently from paylines. The symbol is also Wild when revealed on the third reel and will scroll to the left over two reels for two respins. The “Geppetto” symbol is only available on reels 1, 3 and 5.

Books – During the Secondary World set in the Classroom the “Books” symbol acts as a Scatter, paying out independently from paylines. The symbol is also Wild and will scroll down the reel it lands on, each time awarding a Free Spin as it does so. There can be more than one “Books” symbol turned Wild on the reels at once. The “Books” symbol is only available on reels 1, 3 and 5.

Wagon – During the Secondary World set in the Stage the “Wagon” symbol acts as a Scatter, paying out independently from paylines. Any Wagon symbols that land on the third reel will fill the reel, turn wild and remain in place for 5 Free Spins. The “Wagon” symbol is only available on reels 1, 3 and 5.

Bonus Features

Unlocking Real Boy Mode – You will unlock “Real Boy” mode when you manage to collect 5 “Real Boy” tokens. These will appear in the bottom corner of symbols at random and will be added to the meter at the top of the screen each time you do. Whilst in “Real Boy” mode all Pinocchio symbols will turn into real boys and will be considered wild, substituting for all symbols other than “Wagons”, “Books” and any other Scatter symbol. The game returns to “Wooden Boy” mode once you have collected 5 “Wooden Boy” tokens in the same way that you triggered “Real Boy” mode.

Fairy Awesome Re-Spins – If you fail to win when reel 1, 2 or 3’s stopping position prevented you from earning a 5x combination (excluding the Real Boy symbol) then a fairy will appear on the reels and re-spin that particular reel to give you another chance to win.

Different Worlds – There are 3 different worlds in this game: The Workshop, which is the base game, the Classroom and the Stage:

The Workshop – This is the base game, where all the standard rules apply. “Geppetto” is the Scatter symbol and the scrolling Wild. You trigger the other worlds through the Workshop.

The Classroom – To enter the Classroom you need to reveal “Book” symbols on reels 2 and 4. Each time you do, one space will be added to the Classroom meter. You need to fill 10 spaces to trigger the Classroom level. Once you do so you will be given 8 spins before you have to return to the Workshop. Re-Spins are active and do not count as proper spins. Any time you win the 8 spin count will not decrease. “Book” symbols are Wild and available on reels 1, 3 and 5 during the Classroom feature. For more information on the “Book” symbols check our description of them at the top of this review.

The Stage – To enter the Stage you need to reveal “Wagon” symbols on reels 2 and 4. Each time you do, one space will be added to the Stage meter. You need to fill 10 spaces to trigger the Stage level. Once you do so you will be given 8 spins before you have to return to the Workshop. Re-Spins are active and do not count as proper spins. Any time you win the 8 spin count will not decrease. “Wagon” symbols are Wild and available on reel 3 during the Stage feature. For more information on the “Wagon” symbols check our description of them at the top of this review.

Double Up – After any win you can risk what you have earned by pressing the Double Up button. You bet half or all of your winnings and will win or lose based on the toss of a coin. You can attempt to double up as often as you like, until you lose.

Conclusion

It Came From Venus! Is clearly a very well thought out game. One where time has gone into, not just the aesthetic design of the game but also in making the features relevant to the theme. There is a strange relationship between the farmer and his alien plant, as he tries to protect his new friend from the government who want to capture the plant and run a series of anatomical tests on it. The bonus develops this part of the narrative and does so with aplomb, as a simple click and reveal game is given the animated works. The same can be said for the standard spins, as each winning combination jumps off the reels in its own unique animated sequence, whilst the farmer and the plant are constantly moving around just below the reels. The house edge is slightly higher than we would have wanted but is still not what I would consider poor value for money, just not good. This a game we would recommend, as it is fun, well designed and constructed and offers some value for money.
