Pirates' Plenty Battle for Gold Slot Review

Released August 2019

The Pirates’ Plenty Battle for Gold game can be found at casinos offering Red Tiger software. Red Tiger is a relatively new software developer in the online gaming market, having only been in operation since 2014. Red Tiger focus primarily on slots games but do offer a few table games, albeit a very limited range of them. In compliance with UK gaming legislation, Red Tiger publish the RTP/House Edge information for their slots games within their pay tables. As such, we can say that the House Edge for Pirates’ Plenty Battle for Gold is 4.28%.

Pirates’ Plenty Battle for Gold is a 5 reel game that is 3 symbols high. The game uses 20 paylines, playing from left to right.

6th Reel – At the right-hand side of the reels there is a sixth reel that begins the game covered by a treasure map. The 6th reel can be unlocked by collecting Map Symbols. For each one that you collect you will move one space along the map. Once you have reached the end of the map you will unlock the 6th reel, which will remain in play for the remainder of your session.

Special Symbols

Wilds – Wild symbols will substitute for all symbols other than “Battle Spins” and “Maps”.

Free Spins – The Free Spins symbols are known as “Battle Spins”, which will trigger the feature if you can land 3 or more of them on a single spin.

Maps – You collect Map symbols. Once you have collected 50 you will unlock the extra row at the bottom of the reels and the additional paylines that come with it.

Valuable Symbol – The most valuable symbol in this slot is the “Skull and Cross Bones”.

Features

Battle Spins – If you trigger the “Battle Spins” by landing 3 or more of the symbols on a single spin then you will be awarded with 11 Free Spins. During the Free Spins there are “Fire” symbols. If these appear they will either shoot Wild symbols onto the reels or award you with additional spins. Any Wild symbols that are added to the reels will stick in place for the duration of the feature. There is also the chance that Captain Blackbeard might appear at the side of the reels and throw Wild Bombs onto them, which will add a random number of Wild symbols.

Wild Monkey – This is a random feature. At any point during your spins there is a chance that the Wild Monkey can appear on the reels. If this happens he will pick up all the low paying symbols and replace them with high paying once before he settle on a space himself and becomes a Wild symbol with a multiplier.

Wild Island Row – If you can collect 50 Maps during your spins then you will unlock Wild Island Row. When this happens an additional row will appear on the reels and you will be playing across an additional 30 paylines. There will also be multiplier Wilds added to the reels. It is important to note that every time you change your bet you begin a new map. This means that you can only have an additional row if you collect 50 maps using a single bet amount. If you unlock a the row then increase the bet you will need to collect 50 maps at that value. Your collected maps for each bet value is saved, so moving to a higher or lower wager will not lose what you have already collected.

Conclusion

Pirates’ Plenty is easily the best pirate themed game that I have played and it is also the best Red Tiger slot that I have played. Any sequel was unlikely to live up to the original’s standards and this is unfortunately a case in point. Pirates’ Plenty Battle for Gold is a good slot, but it is not a 10 out of 10 award winner. You get Free Spins and they come with some excellent features. The additional row is a nice touch and gives you something to aim for if you are planning to play for a long time. It looks great and there is nothing at all wrong with the entertainment on offer. However, one thing that there is no excuse for is the lofty rise in house edge. This is good game but it is nowhere near as good as the original and it offers poorer value for money. My advice would be to stick to Pirates’ Plenty.
