Rage of the Seas Slot Review

Released September 2020

The Rage of the Seas slot game can be found at Net Entertainment casinos. Net Entertainment are one of the most established software providers on the market, being founded in 1996. Net Entertainment are a Swedish company but gained enough success to have offices all over the world. Net Entertainment do make the house edge information of their slots games available and this can be found in the help files of the game (usually accessed by pressing the ‘?’ button at the bottom left of the game window). As such, we can state that the House Edge for Rage of the Seas is 3.96%.

Rage of the Seas is played out over 5 reels, with each reel sitting at 4 symbols high in each reel. Instead of paylines you form wins when you land matching symbols across 3 adjacent reels. There are 1024 different ways to win in the base game, but this can change. The reels can switch to a maximum size of 4-7-7-7-4 in size, which would increase the ways to win to 5288. How this happens will be explained further down in this review.

Theme – You won’t need me to tell you that this slot has a pirate theme.

Special Symbols

Wild – The “Octopus” is the Wild symbol. It will substitute for all symbols other than Scatters, other Wilds and Boost symbols, and will come as either a stacked Wild or a spreading Wild. Stacked Wilds will fill 4 symbols spaces on the reel they land on, whereas spreading Wilds will add an additional 2 Wilds onto adjacent positions (never reels 1 or 5). Both sets of Wilds can only land on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Scatter – The Scatter symbol is the “Skull and Crossbones”. 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels will trigger the Free Spins.

Boost – The “Crate” symbol will boost any reel it lands on to symbols high. They can only land on reels 2-4 and if you can land 3 and will activate 4 feature spins. Additionally, one of the 5 Random feature will be activated from the next spin. If you can expand all 3 reels then you will trigger the Free Spins feature. If a Boost symbol lands on an already expanded reel the you will be given 2 additional feature spins, or Free Spins if you are playing in the Free Spins feature.

Bonus Features

Random Features – This slot comes with 5 features that can trigger at any point during your spins. They are all described below:

Spreading Wilds – If this feature trigger then you will see your Wild symbol spread to 2 different adjacent symbol spaces on the reels. The symbols can only land on reels 2-4.

Stacked Wilds – If this feature triggers you will have a Wild land on the reels that is 4 symbols spaces in height. They can only land on reels 2-4.

Major Reel Upgrade – All Anchor and Barrell symbols are removed from the reels and replaced with different, randomly selected symbols.

Minor Reel Upgrade – All Steering Wheel and Bottle symbols are removed from the reels and replaced with different, randomly selected symbols.

Multiplier – You win is multiplier by 2x the bet.

Free Spins – Free Spins can be triggered with 3 or more Scatter symbols or by having reels 2-4 all expand to 7 symbols in height. 3, 4 or 5 Scatters will award 5, 8 or 12 Free Spins. During the feature 3 random features are always active and you can win additional 2 additional spins by landing Boost symbols during your Free Spins. Reels 2-4 will all be 7 symbols in height.

Conclusion

Pirate slots tend to be good and this one is no exception. It looks incredible, especially when you trigger the Free Spins and the grid sits inside the belly of a huge pirate ships. Little touches like cannons firing add to the overall aesthetic too. You get 5 random features, Free Spins and a boost feature than can see the reels and winways increase. The house edge is fairly average, but the slot is anything but.
