Romanov Riches Review

Released: October 2018

The Romanov Riches slots game can be found at Microgaming casinos. Microgaming as a standard now publish the slots house edge information of all their games at any online casino that holds a UKGC license (this is a requirement for all UKGC licensed casinos. As such we can say that the House Edge of Romanov Riches is 3.72%. When playing at any venue that does not hold a UKGC license and does not specifically publish the Return to Player information for their game, this information should be used as a guideline only as we cannot confirm whether or not this game is configurable.

Romanov Riches is a 5 reel game that is 3 symbols high. There are 15 paylines in total, paying from left to right and right to left.

Special Symbols

Wild – The wild symbol is the “Diamond Encrusted Broach” symbol, replacing all symbols other than Scatters. The Wild symbol is also the most valuable symbol in the game.

Bonus– The “Bonus” symbol needs to appear as a stack in order to trigger the Bonus feature. The more stacks that you trigger on the reels, the better the bonus feature that you reveal.

Bonus Features

Mystery Stacks – Each reel contains a stack of mystery symbols. If you reveal a stack, then the reel will be replaced by one large symbol. On each regular spin the same symbol will replace the two left most stacks, which will create one large symbol that fills 3 reels. The remaining 2 mystery stacks may be replaced by different symbols. Bonus symbols can replace stacks.

Re-Spin – Revealing full symbol stacks can result in re-spins. For this to happen you must land matching full symbol stacks on reels 2 to 4. When this happens, the triggering stacks remained locked in place for the re-spin. Landing further adjacent stacks will result in more re-spins. Any sacks that you land during the re-spins will change to match the existing stacks. You will not gain a re-spin if you fill 5 reels with full stacked symbols.

Bonus – You trigger this feature by landing full stacks of bonus symbols. The more stacks you can land the more wheels you can play when the bonus round starts. 3 stacked Bonus symbols will reveal 1 Bonus Wheel. 4 stacked Bonus symbols will reveal 2 Bonus wheels and 5 stacked Bonus symbols will reveal 5 Bonus wheels. The first and second bonus wheels will reveal a cash prize, whilst the 3rd bonus wheel will reveal a multiplier that is added to the results of wheels 1 and 2.

Closing Thoughts

Romanov Riches is all about the stacks. Everything comes in stacks and stacks are what you need to trigger all of the game’s bonus features. I’m assuming that this is a play on the vast wealth of the Russian royal family, who would have had stacks of cash and precious stones and trinkets strewn all around their palaces. Given how things ended for them, I’m not entirely sure that the theme inspires a lot of confidence in my long term chances of winning big! The game looks OK, but to be honest, nothing like it should for a theme that is meant to be all about opulence. The stacks are different but get boring quickly enough and the bonus features don’t offer much in terms of variety. The house edge is decent, sitting at just above what we would consider average. All in all, the game is OK but I can’t imagine it being played for much longer than a few spins before you move onto something more exciting.
