The Rubik's slots game is produced by NextGen. NextGen are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment and do not offer their own casino platform. Instead they lease their games out to casinos using other platforms. NextGen appear to publish the house edge of their slots within the paytable file for the game, though this may not be universal. As such the figures contained within this review should be treated as a guideline only when playing at any casino that does not explicitly state the settings they are using.
A slots game base on that most frustrating of childhood toys, the Rubik's cube.
Rubik's does not use standard reels or paylines. Instead you see 3 faces of a rubiks cube. Each spin revolves the panels of the cube to a new configuration. The player is paid for any horizontal or vertical lines of the same colour, with a bonus for any complete face the same colour.
There is only one bonus feature when playing Rubik's and it is activated randomly. Each spin there is a possibility that some of the letters in the Rubiks logo above the cube will light up. If the whole logo lights up you will be taken to a new screen showing a Rubik’s cube that you can peel the stickers off of. Each sticker you peel will either award you a number of free games, or additional cube for your free games. When you peel a sticker that reveals ‘Start’ you start your free games. You can have up to 9 cubes during the free games.
Conclusion
Surprisingly for such a basic game, Rubiks is actually pretty good fun. Certainly a novel twist on the standard slots game.
