Sizzling Spins Slot Review

Released - July 2018

The Sizzling Spins game can be found at casinos offering Play ‘n Go software. Play ‘n Go are a growing providers in the industry and have a rapidly expanding portfolio of both slots games and clients. They do offer a full casino platform, but primarily seem to be used as a bolt on package for extra slots games. Play ‘n Go do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Sizzling Spins is 4%.

The Sizzling Spins game has 5 reels and each reel is 3 symbols high. This game does not use standard paylines, instead any 3 or more matching symbols in any position on adjacent reels starting from the left side of the reels constitutes a win. This is the equivalent to 243 playlines.

For each spin one reel is highlighted as the “Hot Reel”, this is shown by the BBQ coals glowing under the reel. When a “Foil” symbol lands on the assigned “Hot Reel” it becomes a Wild.

There are two bonus features when playing Sizzling Spins. The first bonus feature is triggered when you receive a Foil symbol on the Hot Reel. When this happens the Hot Reel will be locked in place and all other reels will be respun. During the respin a second reel will become a Hot Reel. If a further Foil symbol is received on the new Hot Reel another respin will be triggered. This process repeats until no new Foil symbols land on the new Hot Reel or all 5 reels are Hot Reels. If a new Foil symbol lands on the last Hot Reel all wins for the spin will be doubled.

The second bonus is activated when you receive 3 or more of the ‘Chilli’ bonus symbols. When this happens you will then be shown 3 Chilis. Select one to win either 8, 10 or 12 free spins. During the free spins the reels will be expanded to 4 rows of symbols rather than 3, which will subsequently increase the number of paylines from 243 to 1024. All “Foil” symbols are now considered Wild, regardless of the previous need for a “Hot Reel” to activate them. During the free spins a meter will be present on the left side of the reels. Each time you receive a Chili symbol it will be banked in this meter. If you collect 3 Chili symbols all wins for the rest of the free spins will be doubled. If you collect 6 Chili symbols all wins are tripled. If you collect 9 Chili symbols all wins will be multiplied by 5.

Conclusion

Sizzling Spins isn’t doing anything you haven’t seen before. The graphics are detailed enough, however, they are dealing with a somewhat simple theme that doesn’t lend itself to creating much of visual impact. The bonus is nothing revolutionary – free spins are pretty common overall – but they are somewhat interesting. This, combined with a House Edge that sits a the very top of what we’ve come to expect from a slots game makes this a expensive game and means that there are better options out there.
