The Tahiti Gold game can be found at casinos offering Elk Studios software. Elk Studios are a small but quickly growing casino software developer primarily focusing on the mobile market. At the present time they only offer slots games. Players should be aware that this software provider includes ‘betting strategies’ as an automated feature. These should be avoided. They offer no mathematical gain to the player and increase the risk of large losses in comparison to your bankroll. As a standard Elk Studios do publish the RTP/House Edge information for their slots games within their game paytable. As such we can say that the House Edge of Tahiti Gold is 3.9%.
Ecuador Gold is made up of 6 reels, each one 4 symbols high. There are no traditional paylines, instead there are win ways, with 4096 in total. During the Free Spins feature this can increase.
Wild – The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus symbol, the “Eye of Tiki” symbol and the “Wild Forge” symbol. All Wilds remain stuck in place for the remaining Free Drops that occur in the bonus game.
Wild Forge – The “Wild Forge” symbol can only appear on reels 3, 4, 5 and 6 and will lock into position when it lands. All the symbols below the “Wild Forge” symbol will turn Wild.
Eye of Tiki – The “Eye of Tiki” symbol will trigger the feature when two or more of them land on the reels at once. When this happens all the symbols between the “Eye of Tiki” symbols will disappear and an additional row of symbols will appear at the very top.
Bonus – The “Volcano” is the game’s Free Drops symbol, which will trigger the feature when 3 or more of them are revealed on a single spin.
Avalanche – After every winning combination the symbols involved will disappear and new symbols will drop down in their place, along with an entirely new row at the top of the reels. You will then have another opportunity to win, and if you do so the Avalanche will repeat. This will result in an increased number of win ways, with 4 additional rows and 262,144 win ways being the maximum.
Free Drops Bonus – 3, 4, 5 or 6 “Volcano” symbols anywhere on the reels at once will award you with 10, 15, 20 or 25 Free Drops respectively, with additional Drops being activated for revealing “Volcano” symbols during the bonus. When this happens, you will have a full set of symbols that are 4 rows high drop down. If you fail to win, an entirely new set will drop down and you will have used one of your Bonus Drops. If you win, once that has been calculated a new set of symbols will drop down, only this time there will be an additional row and one of your Bonus Drops will have been used. The numbers of rows cannot decrease, but the most you can have is 8.
Mega Symbols – During the Free Drops larger symbols are available and will drop down at random, increasing your chances of winning. Symbols can be 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4.
Tahiti Gold is as good as any Elk Studios slot game that I have seen, with an obvious comparison being drawn with the Ecuador Gold slot game. It is truly epic, from the size of the grid (which gets bigger) to the number of win ways that are available. There are excellent features on offer here too, with the Avalanche kicking in with every single winning drop. That means you are never too far away from something a little out of the ordinary taking place. The game also looks fantastic, taking its theme and really running with it. Whilst the house edge is reasonable, but not amazing, we would not hold it against the designers. However, what we can’t forgive are the “Advanced Betting Strategies that are on offer. The reality is that they offer no advantage over a system of flat betting. In fact, if you increase your bet, you’re more likely to lose money than you are to make any. This is poor practice, and it drags everything positive about the game down. We would be highly critical of any website offering bogus betting strategies so a game developer doing this is even more problematic for us. I would obviously score Tahiti Gold much more favourably if those “betting strategies” were removed.
