The Alchemist's Gold Slot Review

The Alchemist’s Gold slots game can be found at 2BY2 Gaming. 2BY2 Gaming as a standard now publish the slots house edge information of all their games at any online casino that holds a UKGC license (this is a requirement for all UKGC licensed casinos. As such we can say that the House Edge of The Alchemist’s Gold is 3.98%. When playing at any venue that does not hold a UKGC license and does not specifically publish the Return to Player information for their game, this information should be used as a guideline only as we cannot confirm whether or not this game is configurable.

The Alchemist’s Gold game has 5 reels and each reel is 4 symbols high. This game uses 40 paylines, playing from left to right.

Special Symbols

Wild – The “The Alchemist” symbol is Wild, substituting for all symbols other than Scatters. Wilds are only available on reels 2 and 4 during the base game.

Scatters – There are two Scatter symbols in this game: The “Purple Crystal” and the “Gold Crystal”. Scatters can form wins outside of paylines, with the “Gold Crystals” offering the biggest wins and wins with only a combination of 2.

Gold Symbols – All Gold symbols are of a higher value than the standard symbols, the most valuable of which, being the “Gold Crown” symbol. 2 of these are worth 0.5 coins, 3 are worth 12 coins, 4 are worth 40 coins and 5 “Gold Crown” symbols are worth 200 coins.

Bonus Features

Mystery Feature – Each reel contains a stack of mystery positions which are replaced by a game symbol, expect Wilds and Scatters during each spin.

Alchemist’s Feature – During the main game, any time a stack of “Alchemist” Wilds appears on reel 2 and/or reel 4 the Alchemist may appear and turn all the symbols on the reels to gold, increasing their value as he does so.

Free Spins – You trigger the Free Spins bonus when you land 3, 4 or 5 Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. 3 Scatters earns you 10 free spins, 4 earns you 15 free spins and 5 Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels will earn you 20 free spins. When you do this you can choose between the “All Gold Free Spins” and the “Easy Feature Free Spins”.

All Gold Free Spins – During this feature all the awarded wins pay according to the gold paytable. The “Alchemist Feature” cannot be triggered during this feature. Free spins can be re-triggered in the same way that they were originally triggered.

Easy Feature Free Spins – During this feature, whenever an “Alchemist” wild symbol appears on reels 2 and/or 4 they will expand to fill the reel and they will also turn all other symbols to gold, according to the game’s old paytable. Free spins can be re-triggered in the same way that they were originally triggered.

Conclusion

The Alchemist’s Gold is a decent looking offering from 2BY2. The reels are detailed and interesting, with the game’s main font really standing out against an otherwise ordinary background. The inclusion of free spins is very welcome and as we’ve seen with a few of 2BY2’s games before they offer you some choice as to what type of free spin bonus you want to have. The expanding wilds are welcome and despite the talk of a gold table, the most valuable symbols in this game are not as rewarding as you will find in other games. I’d have liked to have seen some animated sequences and an attempt to add some narrative to the game would have also helped to make the experience more immersive. The house edge is a little higher than we would like to see, sitting at just above what we would consider to be average. So, to sum up, this is a solid slots game that offers a good amount of entertainment but might not be quite interesting enough to hold your attention for too long.
