Time Travelling Tigers Slot Review

Released February 2020

The Time Travelling Tigers slot is produced by Yggdrasil Gaming. Yggdrasil Gaming take their name from Norse mythology where Yggdrasil is a magical tree where dragons lived and Odin sacrificed himself. Yggdrasil Gaming are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment – primarily focusing on lottery and scratch card game – and do not offer a full casino platform. They lease their games out to casinos using other platforms as a bolt on package. Yggdrasil Gaming publish the Return to Player/House Edge of their slots games within the game help file. The House Edge of Time Travelling Tigers is 3.7%.

Time Travelling Tigers is a 5 reel game that is 4 symbols high. The game has traditional paylines, using a total of 40, playing from left to right.

The theme of Time Travelling Tigers is, unsurprisingly, time travel. The base game is set in a Victorian style house and your central character is a wealthy looking, somewhat dapper Tiger. Think HG Wells’ Time Machine but with a Tiger as the protagonist and you’ve pretty much nailed what this slot is all about. Like the aforementioned book/film he goes back and forwards in time before return to the comfort of his stately home.

Special Symbols

Wild – The Standard Wild symbol is a “Gold Tiger” that will substitute for all symbols other than Free Spins symbols.

Free Spins – The Free Spins symbol is easy enough to spot as it has “Free Spins” written on it. They can appear anywhere and you need at least 3 of them to trigger one of the randomly selected Free Spins features.

Bonus Features

Free Spins – There are 4 different Free Spins features available for you to play, each one designed around a specific era in history. When you trigger the feature one of the Free Spins eras will be chosen for you to play at random:

Egyptian Era Free Spins – If you land 3, 4 or 5 Free Spins symbols you will earn 6, 12 or 18 Free Spins respectively. Your Free Spins will come with 1-20 Diagonal Wilds that, as the name would suggest form in diagonal lines across the reels. All wins come with x4 multiplier.

Medieval Era Free Spins – If you land 3, 4 or 5 Free Spins symbols you will earn 7, 14 or 21 Free Spins respectively. Your Free Spins will come with 1-20 Cluster Wilds that form in groups of at least 2 Wilds. All wins come with x3 multiplier.

Prehistoric Era Free Spins – If you land 3, 4 or 5 Free Spins symbols you will earn 5, 10 or 15 Free Spins respectively. Your Free Spins will come with 1-20 Adjacent Wilds that form in horizonal lines across the reels. All wins come with x5 multiplier.

Future Era Free Spins – If you land 3, 4 or 5 Free Spins symbols you will earn 12, 24 or 36 Free Spins respectively. Your Free Spins will come with 1-20 Random Wilds that can land anywhere on the reels. All wins come with x2 multiplier.

Time Travelling Tigers is a very traditionally Yggdrasil looking slot. It is in keeping with a number of their best games from a year or so ago in terms of the design, which as you would expect looks absolutely stunning. This is one of Yggdrasil’s most straight forward slots, in that you get some fairly standard features, but I don’t want that to sound like too much of a criticism because the 4 different Free Spins modes offer plenty of variety when you trigger them. You get Wilds and you get those 4 different Free Spins modes and that really is your lot. I like how the Free Spins tie in with the theme, something that shows a degree of time and care has gone into this one. The house edge is offering decent value for money and whilst this is a slot I would recommend I can’t help but feel there little something missing, perhaps a bonus game or a random feature that prevents it from scoring the 9 or the 10 that it could have.
