Released January 2019

The Trolls Bridge slots game is produced by Yggdrasil Gaming. Yggdrasil Gaming take their name from Norse mythology where Yggdrasil is a magical tree where dragons lived and Odin sacrificed himself. Yggdrasil Gaming are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment – primarily focusing on lottery and scratch card game – and do not offer a full casino platform. They lease their games out to casinos using other platforms as a bolt on package. Yggdrasil Gaming publish the Return to Player/House Edge of their slots games within the game help file. The House Edge of Trolls Bridge is 4%.

Trolls Bridge is a 5 reel game that is 3 symbols high. The game has traditional paylines, using a total of 30, playing from left to right.

Special Symbols

Wilds – There are a number of different Wild symbols, all described below. All Wilds substitute for regular symbols only:

Regular Wild – These appear in both the base game and the Free Spins feature. They act as normal Wilds, simply substituting for all regular symbols. The Wild symbol is a gold and wooden shield.

Random Wilds – This is a feature pick for the Free Spins feature and as the name would suggest, they appear in random spots after the spin but will do so on every Free Spin. This symbol is the same as the Regular Wild symbol with the addition of what appears to be splashes of mud around the shield.

Sticky Wild – The “Sticky Wild” symbol only appears during the Free Spins and on reels 2 and 4. As the name suggests, when they are revealed they will stick in place for the duration of the Free Spins feature. The “Sticky Wild” symbol is the same shield as the regular Wild with the addition of some flaming arrows.

Troll Wild – The “Troll Wild” is only available during the Free Spins and will replace any 1 type of Troll symbols. The symbol looks like the Regular Wild symbol the addition of a troll’s face in the centre of it.

Bonus Pot – The Bonus Pot symbol is a bubbling cauldron that only appear on reel 5. When you land it, you trigger one of the game’s bonus features, where a series of randomly determined prizes are distributed. The Bonus Pot feature will not trigger if you land 3 Free Spins symbols on the reels at the same time as the Bonus Pot.

Bonus Stone – The Bonus Stone will appear at random and will trigger the game’s Bonus Stone feature. Again, the prize is randomly awarded.

Free Spins – The “Golden Cards” is the game’s Free Spins symbol. 3 or more of them will trigger the feature.

Bonus Features

Free Spins – The number of “Golden Card” symbols that you land will determine, not only the number of Free Spins that you receive but also the number of Feature Picks that come with it. Closing Thoughts

Yggdrasil have developed a bit of habit releasing games that it is hard to pick fault with. Time and time again they impress with not just the design of the game but also the features, and most importantly for me, how those features are worked into the game’s theme. In this instance we enter a world inhabited by some fairly colourful looking trolls. The reels are set on the Trolls’ Bridge that looks up towards the magical castle at the top of the hill, one you can be pretty sure has a “No Trolls” policy. The game does look great, with animated symbols, each Troll performing his own uniquely brutish act when he helps to form a winning payline. There are plenty of features too, with more than one bonus, free spins, extensive features within the free spins and multiple wilds. There’s also a pay to play element in the game that allows you to gamble an additional 5 coins for an additional feature in the free spins. So that means another 10 out of 10 from us then? Well, not quite. It is close but this is not a perfect game. The bonus features feel a little rushed, lacking the animated flair and some of the finesse that we’ve become accustomed to. The pay to play option is expensive to trigger and does not guarantee you any special treatment. The house edge is certainly is not bad but at 4% Yggdrasil could be offering better value for money. This is still a great game and one we recommend you play but it doesn’t quite reach some of the more lofty standards that previous Yggdrasil games have managed.
