Viking Runecraft Slot Review

The Viking Runecraft game can be found at casinos offering Play ‘n Go software. Play ‘n Go are a growing providers in the industry and have a rapidly expanding portfolio of both slots games and clients. They do offer a full casino platform, but primarily seem to be used as a bolt on package for extra slots games. Play ‘n Go do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for Viking Runecraft is 4%.

The Viking Runecraft game uses a 7x7 grid. There are no paylines, instead winning combinations are secured when 5 or more symbols match up, combining vertical and horizontal matches. Winning symbols will disappear and all other symbols will drop down and fill up with new symbols. If more matches are made, winning symbols will continue to drop.

There are four different Wild symbols in this game, each one indicating a different level. Patterns will be indicated by blue glowing squares on the grid. If you can fill those squares with a winning combination, they will glow yellow and you will move up to the next level in the game. The Wilds are added to the game on random non-winning spins. When the Wild is randomly triggered, the God you have unlocked, depending on what level you are on will fire their particular Wild symbols into the grids, normally with a flourish of lightening. The game will continue as normal following this.

Descriptions of each Wild:

Level 1, Thor – 5 to 9 Wilds are added anywhere on the grid.

Level 2, Odin – 4 Wilds are created in groups of 2, anywhere on the grid.

Level 3, Freya – Wild symbols are created in 4 clusters, until at least one of them lands a win.

Level 4, Heimdall – One Wild is created in each row.

Bonus Features:

Runes of Valhalla – This bonus is triggered through the collection of rune stones. You do this by landing a winning combination of one of the five rune stones that fits the pattern indicated on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. When you do this you will have a spin on the bonus wheel and will need to land on the rune that you have unlocked to win. The bonus grows by 12% of the amount indicated for that symbol.

Charge of Destruction – To the left had side of the grid is a meter that you can fill up during the game. To do so you need to land winning combinations containing at least 20 symbols with one spin. When this happens you will be awarded one of the following four features:

Fury of Fenrir – Here, four diagonal lines will be highlighted. Two of them will disappear completely and then the remaining two will be filled with identical symbols.

Judgement of Jormungandir – With this bonus a snake will appear and move across the reels. As it does so it will remove symbols and change some of the ones that remain into identical symbols.

Scorching of Surtr – Three symbols are chosen at random. All symbols surrounding it are transformed into matching symbols.

Lure of Loki – Two symbols are chosen at random. All of one of them will disappear and then the remaining symbols will change into the second one.

Ragnarok – Rangnarok is triggered after a win on Charge of Destruction and when you win with combinations that use a total of 20 or more symbols on a single spin. Alternatively, you can trigger Ragnarok when you win with combinations that use a total of 40 or more symbols on a single spin at any point in the game.

All winning symbols during this bonus increase the multiplier charge, up to a maximum of 15x the original bet.

When you fail to win on Ragnarok one of the Charge of Destruction features will be triggered. You will work through each of the 4 Charge of Destruction features, until you hit a 5th non-winning spin, at which point the bonus ends.

Conclusion

As slots games go, you’re going to struggle to find anything close to the sheer insanity that Viking Runecraft has to offer. This game is so complex that it is difficult to know for sure if everything that I‘ve explained above is entirely accurate. There are so many different possibilities with each spin, that I'd be surprised if many of you playing this game actually understand what’s going on half the time. This feels like a computer game, as there are opportunities to level up and various different hidden bonuses waiting for you. Every spin in this game offers up something different so that even the most severely afflicted ADHD diagnosis won’t run out of shiny, flashy, blinky, whizzy stuff to keep them engaged. The theme is perfect for a game this big and this unpredictable. The Norse Gods can either work with you or mess with you, and if one thing is clear it’s that us mere mortals cannot possibly begin to fathom their actions. For some this will be too much. It might even lead to some sort of motion sickness in those who prefer a more traditional slots machine. However, whether you like this game or not, the audacity of ambition has to be applauded.
