Vikings Slot Review

Released November 2018

The Vikings slots game can be found at Net Entertainment casinos. Net Entertainment are one of the most established software providers on the market, being founded in 1996. Net Entertainment are a Swedish company but gained enough success to have offices all over the world. Net Entertainment do make the house edge information of their slots games available and this can be found in the help files of the game (usually accessed by pressing the ‘?’ button at the bottom left of the game window). As such, we can state that the House Edge for Vikings is 3.95%.

Vikings uses 5 reels that are 3 symbols high. The game does not use traditional paylines, instead you need to having 5 matching symbols in adjacent reels, running from left to right.

Special Symbols

Raid Spin – The Raid Spin symbol is the shield. If you can land 3 of them you will trigger the Raid Spins feature. Raid Spin symbols can only appear on reels 3, 4 and 5.

Bonus Features

Hot Spot Feature – In the main game there is a hotpot that covers reel 3. When a fully stacked Viking symbol lands on the Hotpot on reel 3 it will turn all other symbols on the reels the same as it. There are 4 Viking symbols in total, each one has the face of Vikings on it.

Scatter Pays – When a fully stacked Viking symbol lands in the Hot Spot, Scatter Pays is triggered. This is essentially a payout, the size of which is determined by the symbols that you reveal. When this happens you can win up to 200,000 coins.

Shield Wall Feature – During the main game and the Raid Spin feature a wall of shields can appear on the reels, completely at random. When this happens, the Shield Wall will cover up existing symbols and replace them all with identical symbols.

Raid Spins – When the Raid Spin feature is triggered the grid will expand to 7 reels, 5 symbols high, with 78,125 different betways. When this happens you will be awarded 7 Raid Spins. If you can fill the 3rd reel with a set of fully stacked, identical Viking symbols, then every symbol on reels will match it.

Vikings is a fantastic looking game. From the very moment you enter there is a sense of drama and anticipation, as if you are playing a game that is a little bit special, a little bit different to anything you’ve seen before. I have never seen the programme, so can’t comment on how well it uses the source material but what I do know is that there are few games out there offering the same level of immersive experience. The game has been advertised for a few weeks now, so we knew that when we got a hold of it Net Entertainment would be confident we’d be impressed. I love how there are animations within the reels; snow falling and arrows pranging into shields, all helping to create a more engaging game. The features are excellent, with plenty of random elements plus a bonus and free spins to keep you occupied. The house edge is a little higher than we would have wanted but it is a tiny blip in what is a superbly designed game.
