Who Wants to be a Millionaire Megaways Slot Review

The Who Wants to be a Millionaire Megaways slots game can be found at casinos using Big Time Gaming software. Big Time Gaming is one of the newer software developers in the online gaming market. Alongside many of the smaller casino software providers Big Time Gaming focus exclusively on Slot Games. The company was founded by two individuals who reportedly were involved in the early days of New Tech Media that (via various sales and takeovers) ended up being part of OpenBet. Big Time Gaming publish the slots house edge information of all their games as standard. As such we can say that the House Edge of Who Wants to be a Millionaire Megaways is 3.73%.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire Megaways is a 6 reel slots game that is 3 symbols high. However, the number of symbols that make up a reel can change at random, with the potential for each reel to contain 7 symbols. The game does not use traditional paylines, instead it operates with a maximum of 117,649 different possible “megaways”, playing from left to right.

Extra Reel– Below the reels there is an additional set of symbols. This adds a symbol to reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 to help create additional wins.

Special Symbols

Wild – The Wild symbol is the “Question Mark”, which will substitute for all symbols other than Scatters.

Scatters – The “Millionaire” symbols are Scatters. To trigger the game’s Free Spins feature you need to land 3 “Millionaire” symbols on a single spin. When you do so you will be granted 8 Free Spins. Additional Scatter symbols will move you up the Hot Seat Free Spins Gamble prize ladder.

Bonus Features

Reactions – Every time you land a winning combination the symbols involved will explode and are replaced by a new set of symbols, giving you an additional chance to win. Reactions will continue until you fail to land a winning combination.

Free Spins – During the Free Spins feature, for each reaction that you land you will be awarded a win multiplier, which will increase by won after each reaction.

Free Spin Scatter – The Free Spin Scatters are carts filled with gold and will only appear in the carts set above the reels. 3 Scatters will win you an additional 4 Free Spins and 4 Scatters will win you an additional 8 Free Spins.

Hot Seat Free Spins Gamble – After triggering the Free Spins feature you can gamble your 8 spins in an attempt to win more. If you want to gamble your spins you can do so by trying to answer questions correctly. Every time you answer one correctly you gain additional Free Spins but get an answer wrong and you could lose them all. Rung 2 and 7 are safety nets, which means that once you have secured them you cannot drop below them when you get something wrong.

Lifelines – The lifelines you would normally associate with the TV show are in play during the Hot Seat Free Spins Gamble. That means you can ask for a 50/50, where 2 wrong answers are removed, you can phone a friend, where the most likely answer is revealed or you can ask the audience, where all the answer odds are revealed.

Conclusion

Who wants to be a Millionaire Megaways is everything that I hoped it would be. My biggest fear was that it would be a game with nothing but the some symbols that could be tied back to the iconic quiz show. At best I thought we’d get the tense music and sound effects. As it turns out, you get all that plus the chance to answer questions with the aid of your trusted lifelines. As slots games go this one doesn’t look great, in fact the symbols are about as basic as you can get. However, all of that can be forgiven with the Hot Seat Free Spins Gamble feature. My only criticism of this would be the fact that so many of Big Time Gaming games have the buy feature option and this game doesn’t, when it is one that many would consider perfect for it. The house edge is offering decent value for money too, meaning that if you like quizzes and slots games, this game could be perfect for you.
